Amy's 4 star ARC review of Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.

But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposedto avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.

With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime

4 stars

Elizabeth Bennett was from the wrong side headed to the prom with the right side guy. No the book doesn’t stay in high school so we are good there but you need to know what happens to make Elizabeth cut herself off and not believe in any kind of love. Colby ruined her hopes in a happily ever after but didn’t break her. However she choose who, how and when. She was always in charge and always picked an average guy. Attending Whitman College she is on the move to a better life; one she holds all the cards to in love and life.

Declan Bray is going to get as far away as possible from his abusive father and his bitch of a cheating girlfriend or ex he should say. The way to do that is fighting and winning. He can have his own life then free from all the trash and bad stuff in his life. Damaged ... trying to find his own way ... and his neighbor ... what is she doing to him?

A chance meeting at a party puts these two in each others sights. Elizabeth will need Declan’s fighting ability more than she knows but refrains from getting close. Distance is the key.

Shelley, Elizabeth’s best friend since age 15 has stood by her and knows everything. Colby, being the son of a well known family and rich at that would have never paid for anything he did to Elizabeth. She doesn’t remember all the details of that night but Colby made it clear that he would ruin Elizabeth; therefore staying away from anything remotely that required trust with the exception of Shelley was not on her radar. Shame, guilt, her willingness ??? of so she is told … its taken everything from her …. Until Declan …

This is a good read. Very intense and sad at times as Elizabeth suffers at the hands of a well to do ass hat man who has made her feel worth nothing. There is an incident with a ring that just made me want to ring Colby’s neck. Click this one up. Its my first read by IIsa and I love finding new authors!

I was provided an ARC for an honest review. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Thank you IIsa!
