Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Out of Love by RC Boldt

**Out of Love is a full-length, standalone novel that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.**

Foster Kavanaugh, former Navy SEAL, knows what it’s like to be the top dog, the man in charge, the one calling the shots. Now that he’s running his own security consulting firm, not much has changed.

Except the curvy blonde he hired as his office manager.

Noelle Davis has been through the damn ringer. Swearing off men after escaping a toxic relationship, she’s grateful for a fresh start—new job included. Except her job isn’t tranquil and calm. In fact, it’s quite the opposite because her boss is the most infuriating man on the planet.

And, not to mention, sexy as hell.

Foster has limits. Rules. No attachments allowed because he doesn’t do love—and Noelle Davis foiled that plan and took a red pen to his list of rules. With her smart mouth and quick witted banter, he found the woman beginning to creep past his defenses.

When circumstances put Noelle in a perilous position, the first person to come to her rescue is none other than Foster Kavanaugh. She gets to see the man in action—not as her aggravating boss, but the man who will stop at nothing to keep her safe.

The same man who makes her want to reconsider her self-imposed embargo of men.

The man she wants to get to know now that she’s seen another side of him.

The man who makes her want…more.

But is more possible when you're OUT OF LOVE?

5 stars

OK! Where has RC been all my life? Here is my list of why I need to know this:

1. The main female lead moved from Destin – (that’s where I live)
2. Reference to Tim Tebow … yes
3. A Belgian Malinois service dog and the mention of an organization in southeastern FL that provides these beauties to Veterans … absolutely.
4. Respect for the military and the life changing events that mold their paths … darn right.

I could go on forever as to why I absolutely loved this book but if I did you would have probably a five page review. And why else am I gushing .. this is my first read by RC. Of course I have already downloaded the series that Out of Love is connected to intertwining characters so GO ME!
Foster Kavanaugh and Noelle Davis …

Foster is the owner of TriShield Protection in Fernandina Beach. Noelle is his assistant who is off limits. Now I know what you are thinking .. boss and secretary forbidden fling .. blah blah blah .. NOPE. This is a fantastic written storyline that has much more depth then that. This is a group of former military men taking their brotherhood into civilian life along with the images in the sand that still run through their head on constant repeat continuing to give back to their country.

Miller Vaughn, Roman Doc Watts, Langley Lee Ford, Kane Windam – I instantly fell head over heels hard for these men and the lone woman – My heart also plummeted around the storyline of Hendy. Im telling you 6 percent into the story you will be completely submerged into this book. The secondary characters are just as good as Foster and Noelle – Ty Dennison, Laney and Zach, Mac and Raine, Momma K … Harley – I feel like I don’t have enough words or the correct words to write a review that gives you just a glimmer of this remarkable group.

There are a multitude of storylines written into Out of Love. Most important and the center of this book is the darkness of PTSD and abuse. Foster is fighting dreams and images at night while Noelle is hiding from a man who dulled her sparkle. The banter between the friends is comical, kind, and shows the love each of these men and the women have for each other. The brilliance in RC’s writing comes from shining a light onto two issues taken too lightly in our society. Its light hearted but pointed. It carries depth and weight but opens your heart. It shows the vulnerability in both situations and how it destroys the strength in a once tough individual.

If I could I would read this one over and over and then again and another time until the pages were tattered and torn. I'M MORE THAN A FAN. Not only is the book marvelous but RC includes links, phone numbers and resources to get help or get yourself or someone you know out of an abusive relationship as well as those with PTSD – you are not alone – reach out – if you know someone with PTSD extend your hand. Do not allow our men and women who fought for us to lose themselves. If you have ever known anyone who fights these demons you will understand .. I certainly do. In fact as I write this I'm wearing my “22 A Day” hoodie.

I know I didn’t say much about the events in the story but you all that know me know that I usually don’t. I look at the characters, the writing, the way the story flows – and let me tell you this one is flawless. This is a MUST READ. I'm off to begin Wildest Dream (Teach Me Book 1) ..

By the way we also get a taste of Clam Jam coming in 2017. It's on my list … I'm waiting. PLUS .. yes I stalked her page .. Out of the Ashes is next plus 3 additional “Out of” books … bring them on!

Thank you RC for the ARC and the introduction to you --- I am honored.

Amy's 3.5 star ARC Review of Red Snow by WS Greer

My name is Detective Jarrod Granger, and you can say what you want about me. Call me arrogant, call me cocky, call me a man-whore, call me a renegade, call me a loose cannon. But one thing you can never say about me is that I don't get the job done.

I've dedicated my entire rocky, sex-fueled, tumultuous life to bringing down bad guys. I may not be able to keep a relationship, I may bounce from woman to woman like it’s some sort of competition, I may screw and drink like there’s no tomorrow, but if you're a criminal and on my radar, you're the one who’s screwed.

So when a woman is brutally murdered, decapitated, and put on display like a snowman in front of an elementary school, there's no other choice on who can handle it.

This kind of case requires someone willing to break the rules, someone who'll go the extra mile. It requires someone cocky, someone confident. A loose cannon. Because only someone whose life is a boiling hot mess of sex, liquor, and violence will be willing to do what it takes to hunt this killer down.

Sometimes it takes a man straddling the line between sane and crazy to catch a psycho.

3.5 stars

So this one is a little on the violent side to say the least. If you are looking for a happy holiday read this is NOT the book. LOL!

Detective Jarrod Granger and his partner Marcus on trying to find a serial killer before anyone else loses their life. Women are being brutally murdered and put on display for all to see. Desperate to get to the bottom of the case and keep him from striking again Jarrod comes head to head with his own thoughts and feelings he has shoved to the back of his head.

Jeffery needs to kill – the vile things that has happened to him make him angry. He needs these women to understand what he wants. If they can't or even if they can in the end they need to pay.
Okay so in my opinion both Jarrod and Jeffery are riding the crazy train but heading to a different stop. Jeffery and the reason he kills is something that will turn your stomach. I could barely read why and it hits home in the first chapter. I about threw up – no kidding. And the first woman to die .. uh yeah. Her description and why he chose her. BARF …

This was a really tough read – even for me. The person who loves her a good suspense and crime ridden storyline. If you like them really really off the charts then this book is for you.

Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets – I serious take note of the title – Red Snow … Thank you for the ARC.

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Thursdays (The Wait Series #1) by Harper Bentley

Birdie--
I fell in love when I was 16.
I married him.
I thought life was good.
Now he’s dying.

Beck—
I married an addict.
I didn’t know it at the time.
She hid it well.
Now she could die.

When Bernadette—Birdie—Chapman and Beck Griffin meet in grief counseling they have an instant connection. For Birdie, it’s a comfort to share her feelings with someone who knows what she’s going through. For Beck, it’s an outlet, someone who understands his anger.

But neither is prepared when they fall in love.

And the guilt is almost too much to bear.

Thursdays—a love story of two broken hearts that find each other…and try to become a whole…

4 stars

Birdie and Mason -- Beck and Sonya
Two couples with inner turmoil. One couple with a diagnosis of a horrific disease while the other couple fights an addiction. Drawn together in grief, Birdie and Beck meet on Thursdays. The counseling session are a way to express their pain.

Understanding, ungrateful, selfish, joy, heartbreak, loss, anger and love are all words you will get to know and experience over and over throughout the pages of this book. The need to experience pain together was evident within the characters regardless of where and why the pain started.

Harper takes you on a journey into rocky grounds and scattered emotions. You will need tissues for this one. I can't promise you a happy ending but I can promise you a cliffhanger. If you have triggers from drug abuse then please don't click. What a deep raw read.

The characters are well written and I loved Beck. My anguish over his situation was terrible. I felt for Birdie but not like I did for Beck. The man was relentless and never seemed to give up. Click it up and enjoy. Release two is coming.

Thank you for the ARC. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

*It is an amazing story of love, the love of a sister, the love of a mother, the love of a friend, and the love of a life time.* The Book Fairy Reviews

WESTON
I have a problem.
A big freaking problem.
Her name is Tory Dixon.
I’ve been in love with her since I was seventeen.
The problem, you ask? She’s kinda my best friend’s mum.
VICTORIA
I have a six foot, three inches tall, twenty-two-year-old problem.
His name is Weston Banks.
I’ve been pretending he doesn’t have feelings for me for the last six years.
You see, fourteen years ago, I became my nephew’s guardian.
And Weston, well, he’s my nephew’s best friend.
Which makes him ten years my junior and oh so deliciously complicated.

*This is a standalone contemporary romance.
"A heartfelt, unique, and slow burn romance that shows that when the heart wants something, the heart will get it. What if it’s right stole my attention, and I fell into the deep, enthralling story of Weston and Tori and was desperate to read their happily ever after."- Rachel Brookes author of the Breathe Series

3.5 stars

So this is maybe a taboo type of story and it didn’t bother me I just couldn’t get past some of the “incidents.” I was too busy laughing as the story and dialogue was funny between Tory and her nephew Finn. Typical teenage boy for sure and an aunt who was single one day and a mom the next due to the passing of her sister.

Moving to a new town, Tory soon meets Finn’s best friend Weston. He was more grown up but again I was just bent on thinking how in the world can you be attracted to someone the same age as the boy you are raisin. I just can't. HA!

There is also some sort of weird jealous thing going on as the boys grow up. Weston seems to flirt or make moves on Tory to get under Finn’s skin. That was even more weird for me. But Weston does vow that he loves Tory. He expresses his feelings more than once for his best friends now mom but she resists and laughs it off. Eventually you know what happens. Finn leaves and boom … there is also tragedy that brings them together.

It's not a bad read by any means but this is just too much like teachers getting busted for messing with their students. I can't do it .. cant see it and certainly don’t know why you would want a boy over a man. Click it up and let me know what you think!

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Always Wanting (Consumed #1) By Alex Grayson

My name is Abigail Summers, and I’m addicted to sex. Yes, you read right. I’m a woman that craves… no, needs to have a man take my body on a daily basis. If I don’t have sex at least once a day, my body shakes from withdrawals, my stomach cramps with unbearable pain, my sexually hazed mind goes haywire, and I become extremely irritable and a major bitch. This isn’t a lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself. It’s a struggle I deal with every single day.

I don’t do relationships, because what man wants to be stuck knowing his girl may be out f*cking some random guy if he’s not available? You may think this is something that I can control, but I say screw you; you’ve never been in my shoes before.

The cravings may be something I can’t control, but I’ve learned to embrace them. I’ve tried the sexual addiction support groups. I’ve tried curbing my appetites. I’ve been shunned, criticized, ridiculed, and called every nasty name under the sun. Well, I say f*ck all you judgmental assholes. I’ll have sex with who I want, when I want, where I want. Embarrassment? That’s a thing of the past. This is my life now, and those that don’t like it can go straight to hell.

But then he came along and screwed everything up. Colt Maverick. For once in my life, I want more, crave more from one guy. A guy that’s sweet and doesn’t match my hard interior. A guy that looks at me like he wants to eat me alive and claim me as his own. A guy that will most definitely not be okay with my addiction. A guy that I want over and over again, not because my body demands it, but because I demand it.

I now have a new addiction. But will he be enough to satisfy my uncontrollable desires?

4 stars

This story deals with addiction – fighting to stay in control – fighting to not want – fighting to do what is right instead of what you want – fighting to not claim what you crave – the addiction in a sexual manner. Yes – a sex addict. And her name is Abigail Summers.

Just with any other addiction Abigail needs to fulfill her cravings daily – sometimes more than once. Her nerves go on edge, her mind goes into a tailspin and functioning becomes almost impossible. The struggle is something real and it's something that people don’t understand. It's taboo. It's not like drug or alcohol which is somehow accepted … its sex. Having a relationship is almost impossible. It's not that she can't love it's that if the man she is with isn’t around she knows she will find the man next door.

Colt Maverick is not the man to cure her addiction but the man to feed it. He is changing everything about all she thought and knew. But can this man who wants to keep her to himself actually pull the reigns in on her and keep her all to himself. Feeding her makes you more hungry right???

This story was frustrating to say the least. I can't say I know or understand this type of addiction but if its this frustrating no thanks! I was livid with Abigail at times and wanted her to just stop … I seriously was yelling at my kindle and several times had to walk away because I was so angry. Emotion is good but Im not sure about that much .. LOL!

I was for sure on the fence on this one between 3.5 and 4 stars. I gave it 4 stars because of the writing. Alex has written two great characters as far as writing goes. There are no parts that don’t fit .. there are no parts that seem odd or strange and the tribe of friends is good. Secondary characters are important as we know. Those things over-rode the infuriating parts. HA!

I am really anxious to read more from Alex as I loved the way the story flowed. This one is a rough read or was at least for me AGAIN in the sense of I wanted to just beat the hell out of Abagail. Thank you for making me want to chunk my kindle Alex! I look forward to more!

Amy's 5 star Review of Delve by Jacob Chance

He was my brother’s best friend.
He was seven years older than me.
He was a pig when it came to casual sex; indulging in one night stands like they were going out of style.
So why did I want to tear his clothes off every time we got within five feet of each other?

She was only eighteen years old when we met for the first time.
She was a good girl who avoided bad boys like me, but that didn’t stop me from picturing all the things I wanted to do to her--to do with her. She was too young though and my best friend’s baby sister. I couldn’t let things go where I wanted. I couldn’t corrupt her--taint her with my darkness. I knew it could never happen. It would never happen…
But it did.

This book is a standalone with crossover characters from QUAKE and QUIVER (QUAKE Book 2)

5 stars

Ok so … Tracy posted on the blog who was your favorite male author – and I couldn’t answer that. Why? Because I couldn’t remember a male author I had read. So what did I do .. I scrolled through her blog/page until I found a post for a MAN .. and holy moly good lordt … I found one!

I don’t know who Jacob Chance is but I wanna know. Actually I sort of do because after this I stalked his pages. HAHAHAHA! He should be my best friend .. for real. Martial artist – football fan – joker and junk food lover – (I love twizzlers dipped in protein powder -- ) … and author of smexy books … yup – did we just become best friends!?!?!?! --- Ladies .. Meet Derrick ...

Derrick is a bad boy. Tattoos .. muscles … walking “brown chicken brown cow” on a stick. He is also one of those men that you want to write in the middle of the heart that you send him “I love you asshole.” … that is if you get more than one night from him and certainly no woman in her right mind is going to say no. Put charm on top with a cherry on it and you have Derrick – Kenna’s brother’s best friend.

Kenna wears her sassy pants well and is independent, driven and absolutely stunning. Kyle would kill her if she acted on her thoughts every time Derrick walked in the room. She hates him but she wants him. Little does she know that Derrick wants to wrap her all around him even though Kyle has told him he will rip him into pieces if he touches her. Kenna in her brothers mind is too good for any man.

Holy smokes --- this is so so good ladies. You want to read a man who can write and write exceptional characters secondary and lead – all consuming story lines – eyebrows  raising moments then this is YOUR GUY --- The best thing it’s a standalone .. no cliffy’s per say but things that will keep you reading the “series” for lack of a better word.

The next next best thing – I learned (by stalking) that there are books prior to Derrick to pick up. Yes! I intend on running over and grabbing up Quake and then also Quiver. The characters are intertwined. Next up … Lana and Zack ---

GET THIS BOOK! So my favorite man author --- Jacob Chance – mark it down.

Amy's 3.5 star ARC Review of A Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole

To most people, princes, princesses, counts and dukes are found only in the pages of the most famous of fairytales. Crowns, priceless jewels and gilded thrones belong only in childhood dreams.
But for some, these frivolous fancies are truth.
For some, they are real life.
On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, people have always treated me as someone special. All because of my ancestral name and legacy. All because of a connection I share to our home country’s most important family of all.
I am Caresa Acardi, the Duchessa di Parma. A blue blood of Italy. I was born to marry well. And now the marriage date is set.
I am to marry into House Savona. The family that would have been the royals had Italy not abolished the monarchy in 1946. But to the aristocrats of my home, the abolition means nothing at all.
The Savonas still hold power where it counts most.
In our tight-knit world of money, status and masked balls, they are everything and more.
And I am soon to become one of them.
I am soon to become Prince Zeno Savona’s wife…
… or at least I was, until I met Achille.
And then everything changed.

So this one was a tough read for me. I think it’s the setting and the modern day fairy tale genre. It's not my favorite because when I read I want to dive in deep and for some reason these reads that contain “history like” events are hard for me to lose myself – there is too much thinking. That is ONLY my opinion.

We are in Manhattan but this book is centered around legacies and ancestral family lines. Caresa Acardi is set to marry into the Savona family. The family goes back to 1946 where monarchy was destroyed by Italy but to the families their royal line is still held true. Knowing her fate Caresa is set to do as she is promised until he comes along. ….

So this is where I already started having trouble. Again there is a lot of historical type settings and events which is not my cup of tea. Please know this is only my opinion. If you love the modern day fairy tale then you absolutely need to click this one up. I love Tillie’s writing and this is not going to keep me from reading. If I could recommend a book from her it would be It Ain't Me Babe --- Thank you Tillie for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Protecting Her Six (Men of Elite Securities #1) by Trinity Rose

Timber
After years of struggling, doors slamming in her face and endless tears Timberlee McNamara bursts on the to Country music scene as one of the hottest rising stars. To celebrate her success, a party is held in her honor, but turns into a night that changes her life.

Brutalized, laying in a hospital bed with no clear recollection of what happened that night, her sister Tamara offers a slice of hope.

Elliot
A loner by choice with no family, only the family of brothers he has that were forged out of blood and fire in Afghanistan.
Now stateside, this brotherhood of Men of Elite Securities are doing jobs that are slightly above the law.
Hired to protect Timber when the local law can no longer help, he keeps her safe at his cabin.
Both have their scars to bare, both have reasons to not fall in love, but one thing he will always do is
Protect Her Six.

4 stars

This is the first of a series in the Men of Elite Securities. I'm not sure how many additions we are going to get but there are several secondary characters that obviously have stories so I would guess at least four or more. It will be good to keep up with the characters throughout the reads.

PHS starts out with a disturbing incident centered around Timberlee McNamara. Success has just hit she and her sister's doorstep all to come crashing down the same night. I can tell you if you have triggers from rape or violent attacks please do not click this one up. Waking up in the hospital, Timber is not sure what happened but she remembers as she feels her body and the wounds that lie on her. More than an attack the most sacred part of her was taken. Destroyed, her sister goes to a group of men recommended to her by a friend. If anyone can find the man who is out there still looking to have what he wants it’s the Elite Security men.

Elliot knows he must protect Timber as he sees her for the first time in her hospital room. She is bruised and battered. Fisting his hands at his sides he knows she will never suffer again. Killing the man who did this to her is his goal. She sees herself as damaged and dirty. He sees her as a beautiful woman who didn’t ask for the hands that broke her.

This read was very easy as far as how the plot was laid out. I was kind of eh concerning how quickly Timber overcame her desires but who am I to judge. I always feel like if it ever happened to me I would never want the touch of a man again but who knows and thank God I have never been there. Elliot was strong willed but he did show emotions as well. Of course his team warned him of getting involved as Timber was a job but he wasn’t about to listen.

The other men running through this book have a lot to offer so I'm looking forward to more. Nic, Dex, Hawk, Caleb, Hunter and Tamara (Timber’s sister) all seemed to be great characters that we can look forward to hearing about. OH there is also something brewing between Leah and Caleb. Make sure you take note!

This is a quick and easy read with an HEA. Thank you for the ARC Trinity! I look forward to more. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Reckless Conduct: Blue Line Book One by Brandy Ayers

He burned her once...

Sophie Gallo has survived a lot in her twenty-three years. Both parents gone, dreams abandoned, and a heart shattered. But she came out on the other side stronger than ever.

Then, one night with Luke in her bed… on her kitchen table… against the wall… made Sophie feel alive again. Right up until he ran before the bed stopped shaking. Seeing him every day at the Middleburg Police Station, thanks to her job as the office manager, is a special kind of torture. But she clings to her hate and anger, hiding her sadness and desire, even from herself.

She weakened him once...

Sergeant Luke McCracken lives to serve and protect. Not only the citizens of Middleburg, but also the woman who captivates him mind, body, and soul. Even if that means shielding her from the biggest threat to her happiness - himself.

Luke gave in to his lust once. But he won’t allow himself to be reckless with Sophie’s heart again. Though he can’t help but provoke her just to see her passion, even if it comes in the form of hatred. He’d live on nothing but the memories of their night together if it meant she’d have the life she deserved.

His town is being plagued by a rash of break-ins and an increase in drug overdoses, and his desk overflows with cases waiting to be solved. But never, in all the time he told himself to protect Sophie from the risks he presented, did he think she would find herself in danger from outside forces.

One night with her stole his heart, one dispatcher call stopped it.

**This is book one in the new Blue Line Series, all featuring a different hot police officer at the Middleburg Police Station. Each book is safe with no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a HEA. There is an over arching story thread about the rising crime in Middleburg, but each book can be read as a stand alone.

So this was a super quick read that is the first of a series. I mean it took me an hour to read it … so yes short. BUT .. the storyline was good. I did think it seemed somewhat rushed in events between Sophie and Luke but you have to remember the titles are adding time to the events. I can't really say much about the story as it would give things away. However I can tell you there are some really great secondary characters.

The read is a strong female and an arrogant male lead until …… you will be somewhat infuriated with the man for sure. The story revolves around police officers which is great – there is a speck of drama which again was not bad … it was enough to keep me turning the pages.

Sophie hasn’t had a easy trek of it. Her loss of family was heartbreaking and to hear all she did for her lost loved one. What she endured made her stronger and I loved the intro of she and Luke cutting up playing poker.

I shouldn't say I didn't like Luke because I did. He is one of those love to hate guys. I would have laughed at his antics in the sense of "holy hell you are a jackass" type thing. However I would have called his bluff at his antics towards Sophie as well. You can tell there is a reason for his banter-ass ways.

Click this one up for a quick read with no cliffhanger. Loved it and look forward to more. Thank you Brandy for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of On The Rocks by Nicole Hart

Defeated.
Desperate for change.
I knew I wouldn't find the answer in the bottom of a bottle but I walked into his bar anyway.
An accidental meeting...
The overwhelming urge to draw closer.
I knew it was wrong.
But the need was powerful.
The yearning was strong.
The gravitational pull too hard to resist.
So we gave in to temptation. But life isn't simple and nothing worth fighting for ever comes easy.

*This story contains strong adult content and is intended for a mature audience.

Ok so first of all I need to know because I'm confused and hopeful. There is another book out there somewhere or coming titled Whiskey Bent? If so ... I need it. I loved these two characters Gage and Reese. LOVED LOVED them.

The first few pages are something out of not just a nightmare but worse. I'm thinking to myself what in the heck is happening ... then you turn the page and Reese is headed to NY for work and meeting up with her BFF Wesley .. who I also LOVED. Reese has a controlling husband and wants to enjoy her time away. Knowing she will be grilled nonstop while she is gone she at least wants one night or fun having told her douche husband she was heading for a bath and bed. Little did Reese know upon entering Whiskey Bent her life would forever change.

Gage has never seen a more stunning woman. The pull he feels towards her ... it's something he has never felt before. He should walk away. His brother warns him that he can't go to where she is. Going there would be deadly. They finally had found safety .. or at least they thought they had.
Nicole does an exceptional job of keeping you turning those pages wondering what in the heck happened in Gage’s past. You get bits and pieces but nothing until later chapters in the book. Nightmares give you a small look as well but you can't tell exactly what happened. I knew whatever it was had to be absolutely horrifying from the nightmares.

This is a spectacular story with great characters. I loved them all. THIS is why I have to know what all this other talk of another book is. I hope that we get another release centered around Wesley and then also around Gage’s brother. I want to click now!

Swinging around on Nicole’s page I discovered The Hurricane. I'm heading over to click that one up now. It sounds amazing and I'm sure I will read it in one sitting just as I did On The Rocks. You won't want to put this one down friends.

Thank you for the ARC Nicole – fantastic! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
