Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Stain (King's Harlots MC, #2) by J. M. Walker

*Can be read as a standalone novel*

"An unexpected evil brings both the MC and Military world together in this brand new series by J.M. Walker"

He wants to be alone.
Nightmares from his past keep him guarded and afraid.
Vice-One is his life. They’re his brothers—the only people who helped keep him out of his own head long enough to move on from the childhood he never asked for.

His therapy has been protecting his country, barely taking a break before beginning his next mission. But no amount of training can prepare him for his great challenge yet—convincing Meeka Cline that she will be his.

She wants out.
Her world fell apart when King’s Harlots no longer trusted her, but she continues to fight to gain back their respect.
All she wants is to help those wronged by the evil that has put a shadow on everyone she knows.
Asher Donovan comes to her for help when he needs her most only to have passion flare up between them. One problem: He’s her best friend.

Putting aside their friendship, they use the heat between them to please the depraved minds they now understand…

4 stars

So this is the second in a series that can be read as a standalone – me I don’t like that because I want to know the backstory of the characters that already have a past. But I can say this was a good read and even for me the beginning pages made me squirm a little bit. I mean if you don’t like gore then don’t pick this up .. it's from page one.

Asher is Vice One and has thrown himself deep into a human trafficking situation. That is not the word for it but I don’t know what else to say that would be allowed. This is one evil sadist that we are dealing with. Meeka is forced into a situation that Asher is going to have to handle. Meeka has to come into this job as his submissive in order for them to bring down the human trafficking. Meeka wanting no part of what she is about to embark on knows what is about to happen is something she will never be able to pull from her mind. Asher doesn’t want to bring his best friend into the situation he is about to but there is no one else that he can trust.

Charles Brian is a man that is beyond evil. I have never in my life read a character has horrific as him. I don’t know how he came to pass in JM’s mind but dang girl. This one is a little rough so beware. This is one messed up dude. I don't even really have the words to describe his character.

I can't say much more except that you will want to pick up the next if you start here. I can't imagine what is going to happen moving forward.

Thank you JM for the chance to read. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Fully Involved (Book 2 in the Brotherhood of District 23) by Amy Briggs

Isabel Cruise spends her days investigating crimes as a detective, and her nights hoping for a man who will finally satisfy her sexual cravings. Hiding her deep desires was easy until she let herself go one night with the sexy Matt Cavanaugh, a no strings attached firefighter who brings just the right amount of dominance that she’s been looking for.

Refusing to give into the idea of a real connection, an arsonist on the loose creates a divide that threatens to destroy them before they ever get started. With all clues leading to a perpetrator at Matt’s station, Isabel is forced to investigate Matt and the other firefighters at District 23.

Will Matt and Isabel have a chance to make a real connection beyond their steamy encounters, or will she have to prosecute one of the firefighters, ruining any chance for something more?

4 stars

OK so again I'm late to the party – we have another book that is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Fired Up is the first book in the series which I have not read. The books center around a group of firefighters in District 23.

Matt Cavanaugh is one of those fire fighters. His brother was apparently in the first book and his name is Brain. I'm going to have to go grab that when I'm done here. Married to his job Matt is not looking nor has he been looking for any kind of relationship. Of course the man is interested in women and he has no issues bedding one for the night or the hour but anything more hasn’t been in the cards and he isn’t minding that a bit. When a string of fires that aren’t on the up and up bring Isabel Cruise into his life things heat up!

Isabel is knee deep in figuring out who or what is causing these fires. Nothing is on the up and up. In order to figure out more details on recent fires she needs to spend some time at the firehouse – yup you guessed it .. There is our Matt.

With a lot of weaving story plot which I love the two intertwine into finding out the cause of the fires. You won't believe it. I thought I knew but I was wrong … that makes for an even better read. There is tons of smexy time but also a lot of suspense which makes this one you need to pick up.
I am definitely going to continue this series and back track to the first book. You really can read these as stand alones but you do catch up to the characters in the first book and it's good to know how they got to where they are. Not knowing always bothers me!

Thank you for the chance to read and the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Click this one up!

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Wide Open Spaces (Shooting Stars #2) by Aurora Rose Reynolds

That moment your life changes.
That moment that changes your life.
That moment you love someone more than you love yourself.
That was the moment we gave our son up for adoption and the moment I was left bare. A wide-open space that would forever be empty.
There are moments that define you as a person, moments that prove just how strong you are, moments you push yourself to keep going forward when all you really want to do is give up. It was in one of those moments when I reached out and found him waiting for me.

When Shelby Calder left home fifteen years ago, she never planned on returning to the Alaskan town she left behind. But after the death of her grandfather and a bitter divorce, she hopes going home will be a fresh start for her and her ten-year-old son.

Zach Watters has made a lot of mistakes in his life. But when he sees Shelby Calder, looking more beautiful than ever, standing outside her childhood home, he promises himself that letting her go won't be a mistake he ever makes again.

Some things never change and love is one of them.

5 stars

We met these two characters in Fighting to Breathe and I wondered about them. Now we know. Just wow ... Aurora has written a story that is absolutely breathtaking. This is extremely emotional and one you don't want to miss.

When Shelby Calder left home fifteen years ago, she never planned on returning to the Alaskan town she left behind. The reasons she left was to start over -- forget -- to bury her past. But after the death of her grandfather and a bitter divorce, she hopes going home will be a fresh start for her and her ten-year-old son Hunter. Maybe dragging her son what seems like a million miles away from his father wasn't the best idea but staying where Max could continue to control her wasn't an option either. Coming back home means facing things she left behind. Shel didn't think that facing those things would happen the minute she arrived.

Zach Watters has never loved another woman. When Shelby left he plummeted into a deep depression filled with drugs and alcohol. He tried to fill her memory with others but it never worked. One night turned into more than he bargained for but being the man he is and fighting the past he tried his best. Never did he imagine he would get another chance with the woman he has loved for his entire heart but there she is ... staring him in the face in the house right next to his.

This is a fantastic story about doing what is best -- breaking each other's hearts and piecing them back together. I couldn't take my eyes from the pages and flipped until there were no more to flip. What a story written from the heart. BRAVO --- This book can be read as a standalone but I would encourage you to go grab up Fighting to Breathe. This "series" just keeps getting better and better. How do I know ... well ......

We also get a sneak peek into the last book which is going to be a killer on your feels. I don't know when it's coming but I'm going to need to prepare. Holy Aubrey ....

Thank you for the ARC -- I couldn't be more honored to read a magnificent story. Thank you for allowing me to do so. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Bad Apple (The Uncertain Saints MC Book 4) by Lani Lynn Vale

The road to hell is paved with good intentions…

Apple “Core” Drew needs The Uncertain Saints MC like he needs air. He is barely making it through the day, and each one that goes by takes him closer and closer to hell. Literally, not figuratively.

He’s a half breath away from killing himself—maybe not by taking his own life, but he’s not against making someone else do it for him.
Then he meets her. One of his club member’s sister, and his whole outlook on life changes.

And not for the better.

Just as surely as he ruined his life, he ruins her life, too. One lapse in judgement on his part, and his one night of happiness turns into the worst nine months of his life.

Which he would’ve thought was damn near impossible with the things he’s done and seen.

She never saw it coming…

It was the beard. The beard made her do it.

That is a good excuse for having sex with a man she barely knows, isn’t it?

Yeah, who was she kidding? It wasn’t the beard. It was the way he looked so dejected and solemn. The sad look in his eyes pulls her in, and the way his rough hands touch her makes her stay.

All she wants to do is take that look out of his eyes, but the consequences to her actions only make things worse, not better.
One day is all she gets, and he’s not willing to give her more.

Until she dies, that is. Then it’s too late.

This was a really great read of course … again. Apple and Kitt are one of a kind; two peas in a pod that needed snapped and allowed to open up. Knowing the story now and knowing that is Alex on the cover .. perfect ... amazing and inspiring.

Ridley is keeping his sister under watch 24 – 7 to her dismay. Knowing he suffers after his wife passed Kitt tolerates her brother and of course loves him but sometimes he smothers her. The new prospect for his MC – the Uncertain Saints is perfect for a wild night of letting go. Little does she know is that one night of letting go turns into a commitment of something more. Living through her seizures is one thing but living through being alone and wishing for a man you can't have is another.

Apple Drew knows Kitt is too good for him and so because of that he is going to stay away. His secrets could destroy the darkest of souls. No one needs to dance with his demons except him.
I could not have been more drawn into Apple Drew’s character than I already was. A veteran of war, broken and suffering in the darkness alone … just heartbreaking because in a sense it’s a true story. These men and women are out there trying to find their way and looking for someone or something to hold them together when they can't do it alone.

You need to grab this one up – all Lani’s books are standalones but this one is tremendous. It will open your eyes to the lights of what our soldiers go through. The story does have several and I mean numerous light hearted parts. Kitt doesn’t let her illness drive her she drives it. The air she brings into Apple’s life is astounding.

You also get some insight into Ridley and what he's venturing out on. Wolf is there as well and there is a kicker there that you won't want to miss. I love it.

As always I loved the characters and the story. Thank you once again for the ARC. I cannot wait for the next release – Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Road To Peace (Dogs of Fire #6) by Piper Davenport

18+ for language and sexual content...

Widowed young, Maisie Mann was left to raise her daughter alone. Now, nine years later, she thinks she might have life as a single mom mastered…until her car breaks down on the wrong side of town. All she requires is a little roadside assistance and she’ll be on her way. But when her help comes in the form of a gruff but alluring biker, it sparks emotions she hasn’t experienced since her husband died.

Connor ‘Hatch’ Wallace is nobody’s hero. The Sergeant-at-Arms for the Dogs of Fire MC has a bitter past and has sworn off anyone threatening his independence. But fate has other ideas.

Maisie has no intention of getting involved with a man like Hatch and, despite her overwhelming attraction to him, pushes him away… until her life, and that of her child, are threatened.

Is Maisie’s only chance of survival in the hands of a badass biker?

Will Hatch be able to put aside his past and protect a woman and her daughter at the risk of losing everything?

Road to Peace
Piper Davenport
4 stars

I have noticed that this is a series which can be read as a standalone which I did. I have not read any of the other books but I would love to and plan and clicking them up putting them on my TBR list. I received Road to Peace as an ARC.

Hatch is the SGT at Arms of the Dogs of Fire MC. The man has been wounded by a crappy marriage and didn’t deserve that due to the life he had already lived. Raising his brothers and sister, Hatch wanted a family that meant something .. instead he got a bitch. Getting what he needed in the sack and then shooing them away he never thought another woman would catch his eye. But then Maisie came into his life by chance. Her car breaking down was the best thing that have ever happened to him.

Maisie took a chance walking over to the small garage in a not so great part of town. Unknowing to her she walked right into her knight in shining armor as she would later find out. After numerous events that will leave you hitting the floor, Hatch swears on his life he will keep Poppy and Maisie safe. Even after the woman blew him off he vows to protect her and her daughter.

I really liked the story and was darn certain crazy things were going to happen. The characters were well written. There is a nice little ditty at the end as well leading into Maverick and Lily’s story. That should be a good one.

Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star review of Conquering (Vipers Creed #2) by Ryan Michele

*This book can be read as a STANDALONE*

I fight for what’s mine.

Growing up with a junkie for a mother, Stiff’s responsibilities came young and fast, taking care of his brother with everything he had. If that meant getting his hands dirty, then so be it.

Becoming part of Vipers Creed MC gave him the family he and his brother never had, people they could count on. He vowed to protect them, even when that meant turning his back on the woman who gave him life … until Chelsea.

He knew he wasn’t good enough for her, but he didn’t care. He had to have her.

After all, Stiff always fought for what was his. No matter the price.

No one messes with my family.

Chelsea Miller’s life was simple: work, family, save for the future. Every day was the same. Her ultimate goal: live an easier life than the one she’d been dealt. That was, until her sister ended up bleeding, bruised, and fighting for her life.

Everything in Chelsea’s life changed in an instant. And the cost of protecting her family was far higher than she had bargained for.

Stiff. The Vipers Creed MC. A relentless trail of bullets and carnage. Everything she knew turned on its head.

Survival of the fittest, they say. Well, Chelsea’s a survivor. And she refuses to go down without a fight.

When two stubborn people clash in a combustion of passion and family, will conquering each other come at a price neither of them is willing to pay?

*Due to subject matter, mature audiences 18+ only

Conquering
Ryan Michele
5 stars

Yes I loved this book because yes I love this series although each book can be read as a standalone. I don’t know why you would but you sure can. Ryan Michele has this genre down pat. AND … there is a bonus at the end of Conquering featuring Xander. I don’t know if there is a full length book coming on he and Gabby but we can only hope or at least continue to hear from them in future releases.

Chelsea has worked hard her entire life only to be seriously taken advantage of by her piece of crap father. Her sister, her mother and her Grams are her life. Working at Charlies may not be the most pristine job but its been hers forever and Charlie has been a father figure to her. The man has loved her and treated her right since she walked through those doors for a job all those years ago.

The Vipers MC don’t intimidate her. In fact they are good to her leaving fantastic tips and they certainly aren’t hard on the eyes. The guys are respectful and certainly kind. Chelsea has no time for a man in her life but if Wes (Stiff) gave her the time of day she might just consider a fling. The MC world is something she doesn’t need in her life. Not after the drama her father brought in her life. Safe and stable is her dream along with owning her own home someday.

When Chelsea’s sister is dropped in the diner beaten and barely alive all hell breaks lose. The man she thought would never give her the time of day steps in and takes over. Being who she is Chelsea isn’t ready for someone to boss her around but if it means her sister is safe then she will do what she has to.

This was a great story of two very independent and strong minded characters. I loved Chelsea and how her character was written – she didn’t whine she wasn’t fragile and she knew what her goals were. She was proud of her accomplishments and lived for her family. The things her father put in her life didn’t stop her and she didn’t use them as an excuse. Stiff was a fantastic character as well --- he never wavered stepping into protection mode. He wasn’t over the top but you could easily tell her was all heart. Having his own hardships these two made the perfect couple. I cannot wait to find out more.

Now super extra duper bonus --- uh yeah guess who rolls in --- Trapper! YUP the Devils Due MC – In The Red (Chelsea Camaron) WHAT?!?!?! I know right?!?!?! -- I can't even. We also catch up with Spook and Trixie – The Colonel calls at one point (gross) … but it's necessary. I'm so in love with these men. Bosco, Boner, Dawg, Hooch … they all are just too good … pick this series up ladies and then grab up the Devils Due MC as well. You won't want to miss either of these. I don’t know what is next but I will be wanting …

Thank you for the ARC – I absolutely loved every minute – and thank you for bringing in the Devil Due men … dang it! Brilliant! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 3.5 star ARC Review of Ace Brimstone Kings MC by J.J. Marstead

Alison
I’ve lived in a small town my entire life. At eighteen, I don’t have a whole lot of life experience, and all I really have time for is my job. I’ve heard of the Brimstone Kings MC, but I’d never seen them until a group of them shows up at the diner where I work. That’s the day I met Ace.

Just his name sends shivers up my spine. That man is sex on a stick. But he’s a man. I’ve only ever been around boys. I don’t know if I’m ready for the kind of life that comes with a man like Ace, but he isn’t giving me much choice.

Ace
Shit, she is fucking beautiful. When I first laid eyes on her, I didn’t think there was a chance in hell she was legal. The minute I found out she was eighteen, it was game on. I will make her mine, if it’s the last thing I do.

Getting her to be mine proves to be harder than I thought though. I need to prove to her that I am the man for her. That I can take care of her. That I won’t hurt her. This woman is stubborn as hell, but I’m determined to make her see what it feels like to be with a real man.

Ace
Brimstone Kings MC
3. 5 stars
So I always love a good MC and this one is a good start. There are some tattered edges to fix but all in all I think as we progress through the series we can expect a good read. The book is a little here and there meaning that we move quickly and at times things seem like we needed more to finish out the situation. There was a long time frame included in this book and leaving things I felt unfinished moving on to the next day or month it seemed like life was hurling forward.
Ace is a well written character who has that grit to him but also a heart. The kind we love. It’s the tale of a man who sees the woman who he wants to make his. The woman – Allison has a mind of her own and is sassy but gives him the chase he desires. Being only 18 and uncertain that she wants to dive into the life she “hears” they lead Allison isn’t sure that she can handle what Ace has to offer.
I enjoyed the ARC and hope to get more from JJ. I appreciate the chance to read and look forward to more. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Tickle His Fancy (Trident Security Book 6) by Samantha Cole

All around him, Brody ‘Egghead’ Evans’s Trident Security teammates have fallen in love and gotten their happily ever after. Ironically, they had always thought the charismatic Dominant would be the first one to fall—not the last. While helping his boss’s fiancée find a new bakery for their wedding cake, he finds himself drooling—not over the delicious confections, but the sweet baker who’d created them.

The lone survivor, Francine ‘Fancy’ Maguire’s world was destroyed when her husband and unborn baby perished in a horrific car accident. Three years later, she is finally shedding the dark shroud she was existing under and starting to live once more. When a handsome customer takes an interest in her, he sparks something deep within her that she never expected to feel again. But will she dare to give love another try?

With a killer on the loose and an unknown vandal targeting Fancy’s business, Brody finds plenty of reasons to keep her close. Can he break through the steel barrier she has wrapped around her heart? Or will he lose her before he can convince her to take a second chance on love?

Tickle His Fancy
Samantha Cole
5 sweet stars

EGGHEAD is here! I must say I love the name Fancy as well so of course you know I loved every minute. PLUS … we have a new pup in this one and he's a special one! NICE TORI! (If you don’t know who that is you should message Ms. Samantha and she can fill you in – GREAT LADY).

So on now to our Trident men. I absolutely love this series. As fans we have watched the Trident team grow with new members of the family – new team members in training (which means MORE BOOKS) and adding to our not so patiently waiting for the next story. Brody has been ordered to accompany Angie to taste test wedding cakes due to Ian being sent out of town. Loving Angie, Brody has no problem taken the sweet woman and try out some tasty treats while keeping a watchful eye on her. The vision that walks out from behind the counter is a vision ….. the boom has hit and Brody is in the direct line of fire.

Submissives are missing --- the team knows it's only a matter of time before it hits closer to home than it already has – the bodies turning up are being brutally tortured. One of the young ladies found was a thorn in the men's side but she didn’t deserve what she got. Fancy is also being targeted but why no one knows. What is going on and how is Brody going to protect the women he wants.

I have to say we also get several previews of books to come … Carter is on the horizon friends! That’s all I'm saying … We have a bad ass woman named Lindsey Costello Abbott making her presence known and we will see her in the near future. (I'm pretty sure Ms. Cole has based this character on me but don’t tell her I have figured it out.)

I cannot tell you how much I have fallen in love with this series as well as the characters in the Malone Brothers. Don’t forget we have a new book heading our way there as well. The banter between the men is something we all would give anything for. I have to say there is a scene where Staying Alive is blaring through some speakers and I was dying laughing at the circumstances. The scene is something only Samantha could create in her head using her experiences making it an event you wish you would have been there kicking the beat with Babs. Egghead is right … Pansies should run right after they puke. HAHAHAHA! -- I also will NEVER look at the kiddie pool in my backyard the same ... Holy beavers.

Last I salute you as a character Russell Adams because you are real … in so many ways there are so many like you out there .. Congrats on Jagger … real or fiction I don’t know but based on real events .. I know they are .. pick one … support your veterans .. help them heal. Show them how grateful you are. Welcome to the family Mr. Adams and Jagger …

Click it up friends --- you won't want to miss Fancy and Brody. Thank you Samantha for the ARC … brilliant as always .. you made me laugh, cry, jump for the stars and honor me with trusting me as a fan. Until the next one … Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Luka’s job is to make sure no man touches her but he might just be the man that breaks that rule – a rule that could get them both killed.
I really liked this book! I have not read anything from Dakota before and I actually wish I had. The storyline was good the characters were written very well and the fact that the events kept me guessing is always a wonderful thing .. that keeps me turning the pages.
From what I understand this is a series but each book can be read as a standalone. I am going to go back and click up the others I have missed. Coming next is Harlow and Marc’s story called Back to Bookman.
Thank you for the ARC Dakota! If you love crime family … suspense and smexy time then this book is for you! Pick it up and try it out. I bet you will love it! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Six (Men By Numbers) by Ker Dukey

Intended for the mature reader.

SIX
Men By Numbers Series

I grew up in the foster system and bounced around from place to place. I know what you’re thinking. Bad things happened to me and fucked me up? Don’t feel bad for me. I didn’t know a privileged life, therefore I didn’t miss one. I was what I was and I made it work. I actually had a few good homes in my lifetime, met some good people, but that’s not what my story’s about. It’s not a Romeo and Juliet saga either, even if our stories do revolve around a similar basis. I knew a real love, a rare love, a love between two people that were never supposed to fall in love. Rival gang members are never allowed to fall in love and it cost us everything. The things I learned growing up the way I did is this: Love is deadly and often not real. People come and go and only the rare few stick around when shit gets tough. I learned the hard way what lurks behind false smiles, and that deceitful truths get whispered in sexual moans. I was taught that dark souls are not born but created, and you can avoid them, hide from them or learn and become them.
Revenge sculpted and molded me into the darkest of souls, and with my wrath comes agony and torment more severe than hell itself. I took out six of the men who hurt my woman and I will be coming for the rest. Get in my way and I’ll come for you too.

Six

Wow – I couldn’t be happier after waiting for this one. Reading Ten set this series into motion for me and it seemed like forever until we got this one. It was worth the wait.
Taylor Jake …. Whew …

Taylor Jake grew up in foster care never letting anyone close to him until he met Haley. Only being a teenager he needed to protect her -- she was his heart and they spent many nights together but a relationship of the romantic sort wasn’t in the cards were Taylor. Due to Taylor becoming involved with the wrong person Haley pays the price of his sins at the hands of a rival gang and pure evil. Revenge is all he thinks about – Six is born with a fire burning his soul.

The story then launches us years later with Six being released from prison. Owning the bar has changed him but he isn’t done seeking what needs to be handled. Six keeps everyone at arm's length until the most beautiful woman he has ever seen comes into his bar. He can't be near her .. but he hires her .. he can't have her but she is all he thinks about … he will taint her and destroy her just like he did Haley.

Insert pages and pages of what in the hell and oh my god. I have never been wrapped in a book such as this and wanting things to go the other way … it absolutely gutted me in a awesome way … does that sound crazy – yes but it’s the truth. Revenge, restraint, passion with a vengeance … jaw dropping events .. its all there. Click this … you do NOT have to read Ten to understand what's going on .. these are stand alones. The Men By Numbers Series is a must read.

Thank you Ker Dukey for the ARC! I can't wait for the next one – please hurry! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Check out the blog and click up this book!
