Isabel Cruise spends her days investigating crimes as a detective, and her nights hoping for a man who will finally satisfy her sexual cravings. Hiding her deep desires was easy until she let herself go one night with the sexy Matt Cavanaugh, a no strings attached firefighter who brings just the right amount of dominance that she’s been looking for.
Refusing to give into the idea of a real connection, an arsonist on the loose creates a divide that threatens to destroy them before they ever get started. With all clues leading to a perpetrator at Matt’s station, Isabel is forced to investigate Matt and the other firefighters at District 23.
Will Matt and Isabel have a chance to make a real connection beyond their steamy encounters, or will she have to prosecute one of the firefighters, ruining any chance for something more?
4 stars
OK so again I'm late to the party – we have another book that is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Fired Up is the first book in the series which I have not read. The books center around a group of firefighters in District 23.
Matt Cavanaugh is one of those fire fighters. His brother was apparently in the first book and his name is Brain. I'm going to have to go grab that when I'm done here. Married to his job Matt is not looking nor has he been looking for any kind of relationship. Of course the man is interested in women and he has no issues bedding one for the night or the hour but anything more hasn’t been in the cards and he isn’t minding that a bit. When a string of fires that aren’t on the up and up bring Isabel Cruise into his life things heat up!
Isabel is knee deep in figuring out who or what is causing these fires. Nothing is on the up and up. In order to figure out more details on recent fires she needs to spend some time at the firehouse – yup you guessed it .. There is our Matt.
With a lot of weaving story plot which I love the two intertwine into finding out the cause of the fires. You won't believe it. I thought I knew but I was wrong … that makes for an even better read. There is tons of smexy time but also a lot of suspense which makes this one you need to pick up.
I am definitely going to continue this series and back track to the first book. You really can read these as stand alones but you do catch up to the characters in the first book and it's good to know how they got to where they are. Not knowing always bothers me!
Thank you for the chance to read and the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Click this one up!
