Amy's 4 star ARC Review of Reckless Conduct: Blue Line Book One by Brandy Ayers

He burned her once...

Sophie Gallo has survived a lot in her twenty-three years. Both parents gone, dreams abandoned, and a heart shattered. But she came out on the other side stronger than ever.

Then, one night with Luke in her bed… on her kitchen table… against the wall… made Sophie feel alive again. Right up until he ran before the bed stopped shaking. Seeing him every day at the Middleburg Police Station, thanks to her job as the office manager, is a special kind of torture. But she clings to her hate and anger, hiding her sadness and desire, even from herself.

She weakened him once...

Sergeant Luke McCracken lives to serve and protect. Not only the citizens of Middleburg, but also the woman who captivates him mind, body, and soul. Even if that means shielding her from the biggest threat to her happiness - himself.

Luke gave in to his lust once. But he won’t allow himself to be reckless with Sophie’s heart again. Though he can’t help but provoke her just to see her passion, even if it comes in the form of hatred. He’d live on nothing but the memories of their night together if it meant she’d have the life she deserved.

His town is being plagued by a rash of break-ins and an increase in drug overdoses, and his desk overflows with cases waiting to be solved. But never, in all the time he told himself to protect Sophie from the risks he presented, did he think she would find herself in danger from outside forces.

One night with her stole his heart, one dispatcher call stopped it.

**This is book one in the new Blue Line Series, all featuring a different hot police officer at the Middleburg Police Station. Each book is safe with no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a HEA. There is an over arching story thread about the rising crime in Middleburg, but each book can be read as a stand alone.

So this was a super quick read that is the first of a series. I mean it took me an hour to read it … so yes short. BUT .. the storyline was good. I did think it seemed somewhat rushed in events between Sophie and Luke but you have to remember the titles are adding time to the events. I can't really say much about the story as it would give things away. However I can tell you there are some really great secondary characters.

The read is a strong female and an arrogant male lead until …… you will be somewhat infuriated with the man for sure. The story revolves around police officers which is great – there is a speck of drama which again was not bad … it was enough to keep me turning the pages.

Sophie hasn’t had a easy trek of it. Her loss of family was heartbreaking and to hear all she did for her lost loved one. What she endured made her stronger and I loved the intro of she and Luke cutting up playing poker.

I shouldn't say I didn't like Luke because I did. He is one of those love to hate guys. I would have laughed at his antics in the sense of "holy hell you are a jackass" type thing. However I would have called his bluff at his antics towards Sophie as well. You can tell there is a reason for his banter-ass ways.

Click this one up for a quick read with no cliffhanger. Loved it and look forward to more. Thank you Brandy for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
