Three knocks on my door.
One surprise visit.
One person, who I thought was gone forever.
Nothing will be the same
4.5 stars
Reagan Knowles, mom to Dylan age 10, Max age 7, and Colt age 5. Wife to Dalton Knowles who is a gorgeous and caring husband; a man who built a business to provide for his family; a man who worships his wife, his boys and is forever grateful for his life.
Striker, dealt a crap hand losing his parents at a young age. He was fortunate that his cousins family took him in. He was troubled but Dalton and Striker were inseparable. As kids running the woods looking for adventures they found Reagan. All three became the best of friends until Striker left suddenly without a goodbye for the military after professing his love for Reagan on her 18th birthday.
Depressed and filled with anxiety, Reagan’s heart was broken. Dalton picked her up and was there for her. Her life has been full and for 11 years she has never looked back until the day Striker knocked on her door.
Reagan doesn’t know why Dalton would ask Striker to come and take care of she and the boys while he is away on business. He is well aware of Striker and her past. He is too accepting, he is too understanding, something is very wrong. Two months she is expected to live along side someone who abandoned her. Truths are uncovered, lies and betrayal are brought to light and most of all heartbreak.
This is a really great story. Sigh .. there is a cliffhanger and its huge. Not only is there a cliffhanger but we have to wait until sometime next year to find out what happens. Somewhat frustrating .. yes. I don’t mind cliffhangers if we aren’t waiting months upon months for the next installment. However the story is good enough … in fact its an excellent read so I can push past that and give it a 4.5 star rating.
You might think you know whats going on and this is a same old song and dance plot but its not. We get real emotion from these characters. Reagan is truly a damaged soul for reasons other than the men in her life. Striker is just an ocean of turmoil and Dalton is whew. There are some definite eye opening events not only between our three lead characters but also between a best friend named Riley. I hope that we get her story AFTER we get these three sorted out!
I received an ARC for an honest review. Review to appear on Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Thank you Elizabeth for a great read! Looking forward to Mended Affections hopefully before 2016!
