 4 stars --

This book is definitely a highly recommended one click. Not only is Alfie Gordillo on the cover but the story line is NOT your usual MMA Fighter saga. Both of these make this book a 4 star read; that is if you are even able to get past the cover!

Greylan Pace has been a mixed martial arts fighter most of his entire life, everything seemed to be looking up for him until one tragic mistake made in a few short seconds changes his life forever. Saving “Red” not only alters his future but sets him on a path of doubt.

Grey is brutalized by nightmares after spending 5 years in an 8 x 8 cell. Where did everyone go that stood beside him on his rise to the top; especially his best friend Meyer. What happened to him that night? Meyer should have been the one defending Red. She belonged to him. Why was he no where to be found?

5 years later Grey is a free man. The only person still by his side is his sister whom he promised to protect with his life yet he failed her going to prison. Leaving her alone those 5 years has changed her along with her life. Trinity continued to follow the fighting scene and now she is engaged to Parker Harris, the biggest up and coming MMA fighter. Trinity encourages Parker and Grey to “work this out” confessing she wont give either of them up. Needless to say Parker is the biggest JACKASS I have ever come across! Grey realizes very quick that Parker is a prick. His gut feeling tells Grey that something is way off with the arrogant ass. Parker offers to take Grey to his gym so he can work out and you won’t believe what happens. I was looking at my Kindle saying “WTH!” No spoilers but I will say that Grey ends up with a new found fire. He realizes that fighting is a must for him and battling his demons is something he must do so that he can get his life back. "Grey, you need to figure things out. You've been through a ton of shit in your life. No one would wish that on anyone but now you have a chance. Don't mess it up, you'll never forgive yourself."

Driven to move forward Grey starts over fighting and is trying to find his way alone. His old friends have not stood by him. Lucky for him Christina is one of the best things that has happened to him. Everything is looking up in Grey’s life finally after his loss of all those years until old friends start turning up as his success starts to rise once again. (This is where I wanted to throw the Kindle; you talk about pissed. HELL TO THE NO!) Things aren't as easy as he thought they were going to be with his “old friends” back in the picture. Lies, deceit and turmoil surround his manager, Meyer, Red and Parker. The only two people in his life he can trust are Trinity and Christina. Yet why is he still so intrigued with Red? Why cant he shake her?

This book will drive you crazy in an edge of your seat, throwing Kindle, what the hell just happened way. You might think you know what's happening but you better think again my friend. The cliffhanger is a big one!
The story centers around Grey’s character and the events that mold his life. I love this character as he struggles with his decisions and has a heart that will make the hardest woman swoon. I adored Christina and wanted to throat punch Red. There is still a ton of unanswered questions that I'm sure will be laid out in the second book; Hold On. Anxiously awaiting its release! Excellent read Heather Allen and excellent choice having Alfie on the cover! Hope to see him on the second book as well!
