This was my first Measha Stone book that I have had the opportunity to read. It dives into the BDSM world head on with familiar plot and scenes. Jessica Stanley is comfortable in her orderly life as a paralegal at a high end law firm. Having dated her fair share of liars and manipulators, Jessica views men as the enemy and good for absolutely nothing important in her life. Her best friend Alex is the exception as he has stood by her through it all. Her predictable life is thrown into a whirlwind of new experiences when she meets a dominating man at a casual dinner with friends. Royce Bradford is a man of intent and is used to getting his way. When he meets Jessica, he sees she is wound tight, and he finds himself wanting to show her how wonderful a dominate relationship can be. After their first night together, Jessica only wants their relationship casual after reading the contract that is place in front of her explaining the Dom/Sub relationship and rules. Can she separate love this time or will Royce win her over? This book wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible. The writing seemed choppy to me especially when the “steamy” scenes took place and the ending had me saying … “uh what – who does that and where did sassy Jessica go?” It also seemed a bit farfetched that Jessica submits the first night she and Royce are together for a casual dinner allowing him to punish her. I honestly didn’t understand one of the “games” they played either. It seemed too easy for how Jessica was presented to us in the beginning of the book. I can’t really say much else or I would be writing spoilers for those who might want to one click this book. Writing reviews comes with reading books that aren’t exactly your cup of tea but might be someone else’s therefore if you love a strictly BDSM romantic book this might be for you. It’s also a very easy read. If you enjoy a more suspenseful steamy drama then back away and move on!
