Amy's 4.5 star ARC Review of Heinous (Deathstalkers MC) by Alexis Noelle

I was never meant to have a happily ever after.
It was a fate I accepted a long time ago.
Before he came for me, taking away who I am, I needed to escape.
Just for one night.
One man turned my entire world upside down.
I should have walked away, but something about him wouldn’t let me.
Now I’m lying to him.
He’s going to find out the truth, or my life will catch up to me.
Either way, I lose him.
It’s a thought I can’t bear.
People have always told me love is amazing and powerful.
They’re wrong.
It makes you weak…exposing your vulnerabilities…making you easy prey.
Love is heinous.

4.5 stars

Book 2 of the Deathstalkers MC is just as good as the first.

Twisted (Cameron Pearce) and Nikki. Twisted is the VP of the club behind Shooter his President. Things are going well in Twisted’s world. His little sister is getting married to a man he doesn’t know but no one is good enough for her sister. He’s rich so the wedding is going to be in Jamaica. Not only that, Jesse, his brother has warned him that Lizzy is up to no good playing matchmaker. His sister is tired of him being alone but Twisted taking an Old Lady isn’t going to happen but the firecracker standing and mouthing the dirty biker with bad intentions has caught his eye.

Nikki wants to forget for one night. The biker man who came to her defense which was not needed might just do the trick. Eventually she will have to pay. Her father has made that clear. For now she can block it out and pretend her life is hers.

This story moves fast and furious. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough as Nikki is harboring what lies ahead for her. You don’t get what she is up against in full until almost the end of the story so you WILL be sitting on the edge of your seat. Twisted also reveals his past demons and its heinous for sure. This book is appropriately named for sure.

My heart felt so much pain for these two characters. The stories they told were visions of abuse and sadness. I can tell you I am so anxious to hear more from the Deathstalkers. Next up is Tracie and Torch. You get a brief snippet of Havoc at the end of Heinous so keep the pages turning!

You don’t have to read the first book to know what's going on in this second release but if you want to keep reading I would click them both up and read them in order. You won't want to miss a minute of these great characters stories!

If someone knows if Jesse’s story is already out there in a previous series let me know! I would love to read it if it is.

Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review Watching From the Shadows (Trident Security Book 5) by Samantha A. Cole

The Sexy Six-Pack is back!

Retired Navy SEAL, Marco DeAngelis, is now an operative at Trident Security. He’s also a Dominant in the BDSM lifestyle. After a poor childhood, he is determined to stay single and childless for the rest of his life. But unbeknownst to him, one night of shared grief and comfort with his deceased sister’s best friend changes that forever.

Harper Williams had always found her best friend’s brother attractive and the more she got to know him, the more she liked him. But Marco has made it perfectly clear a wife and children aren’t for him, even if he no longer has a say in the latter. If he didn’t want to be involved in his child’s life, then that was his problem.

When Harper is left unconscious after a violent home invasion, the two are thrown back together and become embroiled in a web of lies and deceit of someone else’s making. Will they lose their baby…and their lives?

5 stars

I am honored once again to have received an ARC from Samantha and her Sexy Six Pack. We all know I love this series, these men and their families but this book is an entire new ballgame.
Marco Polo DeAngelis is happy for his team; the men who are his family. They are all he needs but the other guys have fallen and fallen hard. All he had his entire life was Nina. His beautiful sister who lost her fight so marriage and kids .. not in his plan.

Harper Williams lost her best friend. She watched Nina fade away day by day. The night she and Marco shared together was in grief but turned into something more for Harper. Marco made it clear numerous times in conversation while Nina was alive that he never wanted kids or a wife so it didn’t surprise Harper when he wanted nothing to do with their child.

Left unconscious and terrified for her child, Harper finds herself thrown into the path of Marco. Secrets, deception, and betrayal are not even strong even words to describe the roller coaster waiting for you on the pages of this brilliant release.

Not only is this a tremendous story but we also get to see a very in depth side of one particular character that we have never seen before. There is an epic throw down that even Beau takes a stand on. There are numerous new faces, new family members on the way, and so much more. You get an update on the entire clan both near and far including Spanky!

I have to admit .. I have a few new favorites after this release. Carter may just have to take a step back. Yes I said it …. And I would bet you might do the same. Im anxious to hear the reaction from other fans concerning one scene in particular as I immediately messaged Samantha and said .. “what .. just .. happened …. and how awesome was that!?!?!?!? “ I mean seriously cue of Playing With The Boys or Danger Zone and add a splash of aggression ... boom! BEST SCENE EVER!

Samantha has once again out done herself. Not only is there suspense, and events taking place that will just blow you away but you also have a story with the guys this time that lets you see into their hearts. I could go on and on about some specific events but I don’t do spoilers that is why I need you all to get reading! I believe that when a series becomes a part of you as a reader you want to know the most intimate details about them. We have been gifted a view into the past of a few of our good men and it made me feel special. I know ridiculous but its my ridiculous and Im owning it. Lets think about this … there is no doubt in my mind that if I was being held hostage by 100 dudes, hogtied in the middle of the nowhere the Trident Men could swoop in with a helicopter thumping overhead; Beau and Spanky hanging out of the side, guns loaded , saving me in a hot minute all while not leaving a scratch on any of us … but … getting inside these guys heads and hearts …. Absolutely AMAZING!

I cannot wait for our next release; Whiskey Tribute 5.5 and …. Brody’s story. EEEEKKKK! Also start singing the Batman theme song … YES!

Thank you for the ARC and thank you for writing an incredible release! You make my cup runneth over and explode. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Update: As a reviewer its a rule that you can go back and add to or edit reviews ... I don't know if it's a real rule but I made it up and I'm using it now. -- LOL! My right to do this is completely Samantha Cole's fault. I love this series. I love it so much that I no longer can function normally in my "real" world. She is responsible for ruining me. HA! I imagine myself now wearing a Trident Security shirt to work with my nickname given by the men of Trident underneath the logo on the top left side of my shirt. Why I am wearing it to work .. because I work at Trident of course. No no no not as a receptionist but a TEAM MEMBER. I want to train with them, I want to challenge Dev and Nick on the obstacle course, I want to fly the helicopter, throw balls with Beau, high five and fist bump Tiny while walking through the gate, and lawd knows I want to watch the chaos rain down when some man tries to squirm his way into Jen Miller's heart and life, I want to go meet everyone at Donovan's pub and have Carter slip up behind me all ninja style with the guys laughing .... yes .. I have lost my ever flipping mind and its all her fault. Even crazier .. The club .. its a good part of the story but what I want in on is the action ... the chase ... Heck I even envision myself in my Ford F150 while driving to my "real" job going towards the scene making sounds of "nee ner nee ner" (that's a siren sound) crushing through traffic towards the AF base .. (my real job). Even worse .. I'm married to a Special Ops guy ... and right now hes in the shower getting ready for work. Where am I instead of in the shower with him (TMI I KNOW) .. here thinking about my Trident Security Nickname. Yup .. I've lost it .. Thank you Samantha. You are my hero. LMBO! -- Sigh ....

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Calico by Callie Hart

*** STANDALONE contemporary romance, with hints of darkness. This novel contains serious themes of violence that some readers might find uncomfortable***

Coralie

Twelve years ago, I ran to stay alive.

Port Royal, South Carolina, was my home. I was born there. I fell in love there. And I nearly died there. I never thought I’d go back. Now, after so many years, I have to return to bury the man who made my life a living hell. Some nights, I used to cry myself to sleep, praying my father would die. Other nights were different. Other nights, there was him.

Callan Cross.

My first confidante. My first kiss. My first love. My first everything: Callan was the glue that held me together when everything else was falling apart. He was my savior. He was there for me whenever I needed him…

Until he wasn’t.

Every night, I’ve seen the love of my life in my sleep.
I just never thought I’d have to face him again.

Callan

Twelve years ago, I f*#@ed up big time.

Living life through a camera lens is sometimes easier than dealing with it head on. Scratch that. It’s always easier. For over a decade, I’ve been a master of my art, taking photographs all over the world. Yet despite all of the countries I’ve visited, the amazing things I’ve seen, the beautiful women I’ve screwed, my heart has remained in pieces.

Coralie’s the only woman I’ve ever loved, will ever love. And I’m determined to show her that we’re meant to be together. Even if it means unearthing the bones of the past in the process.

A lifetime and a thousand miles have stood between us.
Now, there’s no length of time I won’t wait, no distance I won’t travel, in order to make her mine

5 brutal stars

Callie Hart is one of my favorite writers. Her characters not only come alive on the pages but they snatch up your body and consume you. If you are a fan you know Callie is talented but this story will do more than put you on the edge of your seat, it will strip you of every emotion laying dormant within you and flood every ounce of pain you hold onto the pages.

Callan Cross is twenty nine years old, a photographer, dark, broody and could give two f**ks how the world sees him. The feelings toward his work is another story. On his way back to his home town to spit on the grave of a monster, he relishes at the thought of pissing on the dirt that covers the man he wishes he had killed himself.

Coralie Taylor is on her way back to Port Royal; a town she swore she would never set foot in again after she ran all those years ago. The last words she said to Callan were goodbye as she turned and walked away from the man she has only ever loved. Knowing what her father did to her would have ended anything between them. She was so good at hiding it; she was so good at lying. He cant be here for her father's funeral. He needs to go back to New York and stay away from her.

This is a story of an abuse so brutal you will ache from the grief brought down on Coralie. The only spot of light in her life is Friday Beauchamp and Callan. But her last lie and her last secret has to stay hidden not only from Callan but also her father. If she doesn't get away he will eventually kill her. Callan's character is so in depth and perceptive that I found myself highlighting his words, going back and reading them again and again. The strength of this man and his fierce love for Coralie is something I cannot put into words. And Friday Beauchamp .... this is the picture of a true southern woman full of wisdom and grace. Knowing what Coralie was going through she gave the child all she could to make her see there are so many reasons to figure, let go and find your way.

The secondary characters are fantastic in their own right. Shane and Tina are friends from high school and don't pull any punches with dealing with hairy situations. I wanted to scream at Enzo and ask him why he turned his head. I don't know if this is a standalone or if we will hear from these characters again but whatever Callie decides I am shouting to the rooftops the NEED to click this one up.

My words do not do this brilliant tale justice. I applaud Callie and her am grateful for her gift of writing that she shares with us. Thank you for the ARC -- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 3.5 star ARC Review of That One Moment by Amy Daws

That One Moment is a full length standalone romance, it's book 2 in the Lost in London Series and can be read as a standalone.

Life is a series of reoccurring ripples in time.
The moment I saw her…something shifted.
The moment my lips touched hers…life got messy.
The moment my heart got involved…everything changed.

Vi Harris tests every bit of my strength.
She is my test.
My challenge.
At a time when I should be focusing entirely on myself, this radiant woman with a bright, cheeky smile and a cracked sense of humor waltzes in and spins everything on its axis.

Vi has the potential to make me weak at a time when I’m determined to show everyone just how bloody strong I am.
She’s everything I am not…yet somehow, she sees through my darkness.
My pain.
My despair.
She doesn’t see me as broken.
She sees me as the man I’m fighting so hard to be.
The man that I’m still struggling to see myself.

The follow up book to Not The One: Hayden's Story

3.5 stars

Gosh so Im not sure why but this was not my cup of tea. I know there were books before this one but I had not read them. Maybe that would change my perspective but I just couldn’t get past some of the dialogue. So please consider that when you are reading my review. I can honestly say I think the review might be higher if I had read the previous books. The “incident” that occurred to bring Hayden to the point he is … I wanted to know more about and potentially that might have happened in the previous books ..I don’t know. So I'm going to head back when I have time and read the others and reserve the right to change my review once that is done!

Please also know this book deals with the topic of suicide so if this is a trigger for you please do not read.

Hayden has a tragic past and was on the verge of not coming back from it. His life has been changed and him handling it .. well he has not been at his best. Hayden fights to get through the minutes and the days ahead of him. He feels he is not worthy or anyone or anything much less being in this life until he meets Vi.

Vi should have a great life with a famous father and four brothers but sometimes she needs a break from them. They love her something fierce and some folks might enjoy the attention but Vi feels confined; smothered. The family lost their mother when Vi was just a small child so the men in her life come by it honestly but somehow she has to find her own way. Moving out, her brothers still attempt to “climb” into her life which has it's laugh out loud moments -- Her dog is hilarious as well. Meeting Hayden is another thing in her life she didn’t count on. Now what ???

The connection between these two characters was good but I couldn’t stay focused on the story. Maybe it was too much for me or not enough suspense. I don’t know. This is a love story that is over the top. If you enjoy this type of read then for sure give it a click. However missing the previous books I didn’t really find the connection needed with the characters. I wish I had but it just wasn’t there for me because I didn’t have the background on the other characters and more insight into Hayden’s past.

Thank you for the ARC! ---- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Publication Date: April 11, 2016

Cover Designer: Mayhem Cover Creations

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Paige
Turns out he was everything I ever wanted—charming, loving, and super sexy. But I knew being with Levi, the gorgeous MMA fighter every woman wanted, was going to be difficult. Especially since he’s so far away training a beautiful up-and-coming female fighter, teaching the very thing he thrives on. I just didn’t realize how damaging and strenuous this would be to our relationship. With so many twists and turns, unfortunately, we both got blindsided by the unexpected.

Levi
I’m everything she wants and surprisingly, she was everything I needed. Quickly she became my very existence—my heartbeat. Everything around me faded as she became clear in view. And just because I’m affectionate toward her doesn’t mean I’ve changed. Don’t confuse my being in love with weakness. I’m still pretty damn perfect. I knew distance was going to be hard, but hell, this is agonizing.

Amy's 5 star Review of Vexed (Iron Bulls MC #4) by Phoenyx Slaughter

Falling in love will only leave you vexed.

Recent high school graduate, Athena Vale might seem bubbly and uncomplicated, but she has big plans and even bigger dreams, she’s only ever shared with her best friend, Karina. Athena’s strict upbringing has left her curious about taking a walk on the wild side—just once. And she knows exactly who she wants to go wild with.

President of the Iron Bulls MC, Reed “Romeo” Crownover has no shortage of women willing to entertain him. But these days, there’s only one girl on his mind —Athena. When she shows up at his clubhouse on the night of her eighteenth birthday, he decides it’s time to work her out of his system.

But one night turns into two, two turns into three, and soon the no-strings fun turns into something more passionate than either of them expected. An intense romance neither of them have ever experienced or knew they wanted.

She’s half his age.

He doesn’t fit in her world.

She’s leaving for Los Angeles to start a new life in a few days.

Their connection was vexed from the start.

Vexed is the fourth novella in the Iron Bulls MC series. Although Romeo and Athena make brief appearances in the first three books, Vexed can be read as a stand-alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger.

5 stars

Wow … I love this series. The Iron Bulls MC is a stand out in my all time favorites. I didn’t know how I would feel about Athena and Romeo but the story was fantastic. I have a feeling this was the precursor to a whole lot of stuff about to hit the fan. I believe we are being set up for one heck of a ride between a few rivalry clubs.

Romeo or Reed is the President of the Iron Bulls MC. If you haven’t read Dante’s story then you might want to go back and hit it up first. You don’t necessarily need to but there are a few moments in Vexed that will have you wondering what all of “that” was about if you don’t know the back story. Its nothing that will keep you from loving this releases but if you are like me you will want to know why Dante and Romeo dislike Tucker so much.

Anyway .. behind the Adonis biker we have a man with a heart and a soul. This really just blew me away. I figured I was going to end of “hate-loving” him in my weird way but I was shocked at how his character was written. Absolutely brilliant. Romeo has had his eye on Athena since Katrina brought her to the clubhouse and now that she is eighteen its on. And lord … it was on.
Athena has had her eye on Romeo since the days of Asunder (IB MC #1) but as you know she was under age so no way Romeo was ever going to touch her. But the day she turns eighteen Athena knows exactly what she wants. One night .. on time with a man who can fulfill all her wants and desires. Heading to the club with Katrina; Athena has no idea how much she is asking for.

This is such a great great read. I couldn’t put it down. Of course that is no different than the other in this series. I am anxious awaiting our next release … Kadence is about to bring the house down with antics. You get a small snippet of Unhinged at the end of Vexed. Lord have mercy .. Red Storm MC, Tucker, Ivy Wilder, Bolt Savage; President of the Savage Dragons MC, Blaise Savage, Deacon and Dante … Holy S**t!

Grab this one up friends! It's soooo worth the read. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Shock Advised by Lani Lynn Vale

Taima, a.k.a. Tai, is the last person people come to for help. He’s the fuck up…the bad boy…the guy that only looks out for himself.

Which couldn’t be further from the truth.

He’s fought hard to become the man he is today. He’s a hero in the public’s eye. A firefighter that the young all the way to the old turn to for help at the lowest point in their lives.

What people don’t know, though, is that he’s no hero. He’s the reason his sister is dead, and he’ll spend the rest of his life trying to right that wrong.

Then one split second decision has him coming face to face with Mia Darling. The woman changes his life, making him reevaluate everything he thought he had figured out, and showing him the tenderness he never knew he needed.

Just like always, though, his luck runs out.

When the smoke settles, Mia’s gone, and Tai realizes there’s no way he can live the rest of his life without her. He’ll show her just how hard a bad boy will fight to get his woman back, and he’s not opposed to fighting dirty.

Shock Advised
Lani Lynn Vale
5 stars

We have been teased by Lani in her other series with mentions of the men of Kilgore Fire and now we have our first. Let me tell you friends it's a gut wrenching read. This book hit so close to home for me I nearly lost every breath as I turned the pages. Leukemia and a child .... Get your tissues.

Tai feels lost. His job helps him deal with his past. Saving others is his salvation. Lost and irresponsible as a kid he is finding his way with the Kilgore FD. We met Tai with the release of Jack's story in the Freebird series but didn't get the full story on him. Tai needs to heal and until he does maybe he shouldn't take on another's burden.

Mia's life is turned upside down when the only heart that gives her light is diagnosed with the worst disease possible. A chance circumstance and a mother's desperation brings Tai into her life. Through suffering and heartbreak somehow she needs to heal. But how does one who has lost so much find a way to do that? Another broken soul?

This book is an emotional read. You will cry a river full of tears, you will hope all while wondering if you should or can bear turning the next page. These two characters are so well written I felt my heart shatter and gradually piece itself back together. If you have never experienced cancer count your blessings. Tai and Mia were a beautiful disaster that became bound together by grief.

Click this one up .... Click up all the others from Lani as well. You won't be sorry. Next up ... Jack and Coke ... Keep writing Lani because I'm going to keep devouring every book you release!

Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
