Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Shock Advised by Lani Lynn Vale

Taima, a.k.a. Tai, is the last person people come to for help. He’s the fuck up…the bad boy…the guy that only looks out for himself.

Which couldn’t be further from the truth.

He’s fought hard to become the man he is today. He’s a hero in the public’s eye. A firefighter that the young all the way to the old turn to for help at the lowest point in their lives.

What people don’t know, though, is that he’s no hero. He’s the reason his sister is dead, and he’ll spend the rest of his life trying to right that wrong.

Then one split second decision has him coming face to face with Mia Darling. The woman changes his life, making him reevaluate everything he thought he had figured out, and showing him the tenderness he never knew he needed.

Just like always, though, his luck runs out.

When the smoke settles, Mia’s gone, and Tai realizes there’s no way he can live the rest of his life without her. He’ll show her just how hard a bad boy will fight to get his woman back, and he’s not opposed to fighting dirty.

Shock Advised
Lani Lynn Vale
5 stars

We have been teased by Lani in her other series with mentions of the men of Kilgore Fire and now we have our first. Let me tell you friends it's a gut wrenching read. This book hit so close to home for me I nearly lost every breath as I turned the pages. Leukemia and a child .... Get your tissues.

Tai feels lost. His job helps him deal with his past. Saving others is his salvation. Lost and irresponsible as a kid he is finding his way with the Kilgore FD. We met Tai with the release of Jack's story in the Freebird series but didn't get the full story on him. Tai needs to heal and until he does maybe he shouldn't take on another's burden.

Mia's life is turned upside down when the only heart that gives her light is diagnosed with the worst disease possible. A chance circumstance and a mother's desperation brings Tai into her life. Through suffering and heartbreak somehow she needs to heal. But how does one who has lost so much find a way to do that? Another broken soul?

This book is an emotional read. You will cry a river full of tears, you will hope all while wondering if you should or can bear turning the next page. These two characters are so well written I felt my heart shatter and gradually piece itself back together. If you have never experienced cancer count your blessings. Tai and Mia were a beautiful disaster that became bound together by grief.

Click this one up .... Click up all the others from Lani as well. You won't be sorry. Next up ... Jack and Coke ... Keep writing Lani because I'm going to keep devouring every book you release!

Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
