Amy's 5 star ARC Review of The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry

FIRST OFF - CAN I JUST SAY I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS COVER!

Synopsis

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe

5 stars

This is another one of those stories that Im failing at writing a review for. I write, delete, write again and do the same. It seems there are no exact words how to relay the brilliance laid throughout the pages to encourage you to click up this memorizing story. Tristan and Elizabeth are certainly two of my most favorite characters written.

Both Tristan and Elizabeth are completely shattered souls. Its almost as if their hearts are beating the beats are faint, slow and painful. As you move through the pages the beats become stronger, louder and this vital organ needed for survival mends the scars burned into them. While I was reading and getting further lost in Tristan and Elizabeth’s lives I saw them both standing lost in a deep fog of death with no way out. However exceptionally written support characters like Zeus, Emma, Faye and Mr. Henson seemed to be their lights clearing a safe passage into the living. I absolutely loved the nicknames “Tick” and “Tock” that were given to two of these spectacular characters. I wont say who but you will know soon enough as you also will never look at white feathers as an insignificant piece of nature again.

I found myself holding my breath willing these two the desire to reach out and grab the happiness that was right there within reach. It was almost torture. The relationship that spirals around the pages is simply gut wrenching. I was constantly telling myself to remember it was only a story. The emotions portrayed and inked into Tristan and Elizabeth were almost too much to bare … why? Because this story could be something that could potential happen. There are bit and pieces that Im certain we all know someone in our lives that has actually been swallowed up by grief that they fought harder to feel again even just for a moment rather than fighting to feel alive again for all their moments.

I really cannot do this book justice with any type of review without grabbing your heart and shredding it to pieces along with spoiling everything. So as usual please trust me when I say you need to click this up. There is just a tortuous kind of emotion on these pages, there are friends written into the story that will mess with your head and then there are even the smallest moments that will smash your entire being into a million tiny insignificant pieces just to be picked up and mended back together.

I tell you all that I love it when I am gifted stories by authors new to me and this one is no different. I don’t know how this story came about but I can tell you that you need this one. Lord help us if we get Faye’s story next because Im guessing it would be a doozie as well … Seriously .. I need another … give me something. I did learn from Ms. Cherry that there will be 3 more books all with "new" characters but hoping we still see a few old. Each book will be centered around an element -- air, water, fire and earth. The books will all be standalones with no cliffhangers --- Just amazing …

I received an ARC for an honest review. Review to post on Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Thank you Brittainy for an incredible book.

If I'm not mistaken I believe this book is FREE with Kindle Unlimited.
