Amy's Review of Sweet (Chicago Underground) by Skye Warren

Synopsis

My brother is both powerful and cruel, which means I have a lot of enemies I've never met. He swears he'll keep me safe, but what I want most is to break free. I especially want to break free with Drew, my brother's lawyer.

I've spent my life under glass...

We shouldn't be together, but everything about him draws me. His intensity, his kindness.

And the way he looks in those custom tailored suits.

One night when he's outside my bedroom, I give him a sexy show. And in doing so, unlock pandora's box. Drew shows me everything I've been missing. He touches my body and my heart, but when the truth comes to light, we're both in danger.

The cost of my freedom may be the man I've come to love.

"[A] sweet romance that is filled with poignant moments of heartbreak and some really good sexy times." ~ Fiction Vixen

3. 5 stars

This was a very short very sweet book but for me the lead female is not my type of character. But like I always tell you all don’t stop that from you all picking it up. You also know I like depth and novella’s just aren’t enough for me. However the forbidden romance is a nice touch. Rose is overpowered at times by her brother and Drew, her brothers lawyer who she wants to run away with; get lost with.
Philip is cruel at times and that really threw me for a loop. I mean protecting your sister is one thing … holding her in the sense of “hostage” and not allowing her to live her life is another. The characters in this short story are broken. Its almost too depressing for my taste. I wanted to yell enough already a few times.

There are a few twists in the plot, a lot of sadness and a lot to overcome. Maybe if I had read the other stories I might have connected more so please again consider that when reading the review. Its very difficult to review a book when you haven’t read the entire series. If you have read the series; Im sure you will find this installment a nice addition.

These are the other releases – go click them up and give them a whirl.
