Amy's Review of Dee Palmer's - The Choices Trilogy

Synopsis

Never a Choice

Bethany Thorne has secrets and she’s told a few lies but she’s hurt no-one. She just wants a better life, she works hard for a better life, a life with choices but a chance encounter at her new University with disturbing stranger Daniel Stone makes her heart beat, her body tremble and rocks her very foundation. Reeling from the intensity of her unfathomable reactions to this man her world is sent further spiralling out of her control when on this first meeting he casually whispers that he knows she’s a liar. Bethany begins to feel her hard earned choices start to disintegrate before her.

Her innate and newly discovered submissive nature is highlighted further by her extreme reaction to each encounter with Daniel Stone. Dark and dominant he evokes an instant heat and desire she has never felt before, but he is dangerous, he is powerful and he seems to see right through her. Choosing to try and stay under his radar proves to be the first choice to slip through her fingers

Always A Choice

Dark and erotically demanding Daniel is everything and more, Bethany embraces the challenge of being with a man like Daniel whilst trying to come to terms with what he needs and what she can give him of herself. Is it ever going to be enough? Daniel consumes and possess every part of her, its intoxicating and seductive. Bethany needs to choose between being true to herself and the promises she made and being the type woman Daniel demands

Dee Palmer – The Choices Trilogy -- 3.5 stars Never a Choice Always a Choice Bethany has been on her own forever it seems. She has survived a enormous amount of tragedy in her life. The first few chapters pull you into the mystery surrounding the murder of her best friend and love her life John. She is desperately trying to get her life in order so that she can support her sick mother and not have to worry. Her “adopted” family has been there with her from the moment tragedy struck. Her life will change once she gets her degree but can she pull off the secret she is keeping and how does Mr. Daniel Stone know she isn’t telling the truth? Daniel Stone is a guest speaker at the University. The minute he laid eyes on Bethany he knew he would not be able to resist her. But her lies, her deception. How will this play out? However a Stone man always gets what he wants. The first two books in this series take us through many mysteries, a psycho demented sister, a late night job that starts to become very odd in my opinion, flips from controversy to controversy between characters and a lot of uncertainly about what happens next. Both books are also very lengthy at times repeating the same general situations but in different scenarios. Its not terrible but Im more of a get to the point kind of reader. In the second installment Always a Choice Daniel has the past come back to seriously smack him in the face with a giant 2x4. Bethany is constantly standing with her mouth gapping open and it almost is too much. There is more of the same but the struggles seem to be on Daniels end and Bethany trying to accept the events unfolding before her. There are some serious stalker moments for me although I guess if two people are in love you might not feel that way. However being a more independent person I was thinking Bethany should run for the hills. Always a Choice has a huge cliffhanger that just will either make your think here we go again OR you will be waiting with baited breath for the final installment. I’m on the fence over this series. It wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t bad either. Again the stories are lengthy so if you like constant mystery and drama them you definitely want to pick these two books up. If you are more of a slam bang thank you “sir” type of reader then you might want to read a sample and decide for yourself. The series has potential in my opinion just lengthy and drawn out.
