I was approached by the author via Goodreads and asked if I'd like to read and review this book and once I read the synopsis I said yes. I wasn't sure what to expect and I couldn't stop once I started.
This is a friends to lover story with a not so happy outcome.
We have Sean and Scarlet who have been best friends since college. Always together, always there for each other. You know how it is. They love each other but aren't In love with each other. At least that's what they tell each other. They are both protective of one another and basically inseparable.
When Sean gets dumped by his girlfriend he goes into a depression and it's Scar's job to make him happy again. She hates to see him hurt like he is.
But she is dealing with her own struggles. Her boss is a complete perverted jerk and when things take a turn at work. She fails to share the info with Sean because she knows that he is dealing with his own problems at the moment and she doesn't want to burden him with her own.
One thing leads to another and they end up sleeping together one night and for Scar she thinks it means something and apparently to Sean it doesn't. As he makes the mistake of sleeping with someone else the next day. She admits to Sean that she loves him and wants more and apparently he doesn't return those feelings. He thought it was just a Friends with Benefits Fuck. So, she is devastated and heartbroken and can't be around him.
Scar packs up...tells Sean she wants nothing more to do with him and flies across country to live with her brother Ryan. Where she meets Cortland and they hit it off and become friends. She starts her own Editing company and helps her brother get his tattoo business back up and running and all thinking Sean hates her and seriously doesn't care about her.
He has secretly been calling her brother to check on her. =) In the end, Sean gets his shit together and realizes he does in fact love Scar so he flies to win her back.
This story not only focuses on Sean and Scar but has other things going on that add to the story line. I secretly think her and Cortland will end up together in the future... just saying =)
Happy reunion.... maybe..... and a Cliffhanger! UGH =)
This book held my attention from beginning to end and I am anxious to see where their stories takes us in book two.
