AUTHOR INTERVIEW - ELEANOR GREEN - HER NOVEL TORN DUE OUT IN JANUARY

NOVEL - TORN DUE OUT IN JANUARY 2014!  ADD IT TO YOUR GOODREADS...TBR!

Would you like to introduce yourself with a short bio?
Things that we don’t know about you maybe?
Eleanor Green resides in Tennessee with her husband and two children. She enjoys the things everyone else does—reading, writing, cooking—but is also an adventure seeker.
Terrified of cats, passionate about hot tea, allergic to being cold.
Still left on her bucket list: getting lost in Italy and being invited in for dinner by a sweet family, eating a scorpion, and swimming with the dolphins.
Eleanor also writes under the name Lisa Poston Murphy.

When you aren’t busy writing – what can we find you doing?
I’m really into CrossFit and try to make it to the gym 3-4 times a week. Although I’d rather be traveling to exotic countries, I’m usually chauffeuring kids around from one event to the next.

What’s the BEST thing about being an author?
Escaping reality. I love researching places my characters live or visit. I can look out to see from the Nubble Lighthouse or enjoy Maine lobster, while still in my pajamas, typing away at the keys. Of course, there is also the added benefit of falling in love all over again with each male character.

Are there any topics that you won't write about?
I don’t think so. I would have a hard time writing about something I knew very little about. If I couldn’t properly research it, I wouldn’t write about it. My goal in writing is to evoke emotion, whether happy, sad, good, or bad. With that being said, everything is fair game.

Are any of the situations, scenes or characters based on your life or events in your life? If so, can you elaborate any? =)
Yes, I always like to infuse a few personal events in my writing. However, they are usually heavily exaggerated or tweaked to fit the story.

How did you name your characters?
The same way I named my children—watching the movie credits. I search for names that strike me and type them into my phone.

What made you write Torn?
This will sound cliché, but it’s true. The story was in my head, begging to be released. It was all I could think about. Often I’d wake in the middle of the night and write scenes before I could fall back to sleep. A few times, I couldn’t read what was written. I must’ve been sleep-writing!

If you could spend one day with any one of your characters…who would you chose and why?
Pete Savalli. He’s a bad-ass with mafia connections and I’m obsessed with the mafia. I kid you not—I wanted to be a mafia princess when I was a child!

Is there anything that is a MUST while you are writing…superstitions etc?
I’m not superstitious at all, but I must have a cup of hot Earl Grey tea. Usually, I only take one sip of it and forget it’s there.

3 things your readers do not know about you.
Fun! Hmmm…
1. I’m terrified of worms. I can pick up a snake and hold it, but an inch worm will make me scream like a girl and run around like I’ve lost my mind.
2. I’m crazy good with a shotgun & have won every contest I’ve ever entered.
3. You know about my mafia obsession. Well, I’ve met Jimmy Hoffa’s son, Jimmy, Jr. He was our lawyer when I was a kid.

What was the hardest thing about writing your book?
Researching some of the darker parts of the book. When my characters feel sadness or pain, I bawl. I have a hard time separating fiction and reality.

Do you have a hardest scene you had to write? If so, can you explain?
Ha! The sex scenes were the hardest to write. I had to consume a few glasses of wine and go into hiding.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write about and why?
I can’t tell this without giving too much away, but I love writing the action scenes!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night Owl. On more than a few occasions I’ve heard my house waking up to get ready for the day, and realize I’ve been up all night.

Fill in the blanks…
I am really awesome at Handstand pushups! Okay, I’m not awesome—mediocre at best, but I just accomplished them and wanted a moment to brag. ;)

I am really embarrassed to admit I loathe underwear

The last great book I read was Fixed On You/Found In You by Laurelin Paige

My favorite book boyfriend is I’ve got to go with Hudson from the books above. He’s demanding and goes after what he wants. I like a man who doesn’t ask permission to kiss you, he just takes. However, he knows how to take care of his woman, too.

Give us your best pitch to convince readers to one click and give your book a try.
This is a story about the innocence and strength of first love. Shattered lives. Hope. Destiny.
Here’s the blurb:
When Katie Harrington becomes engaged to Branson Stone she believes her life is right on track for all her dreams to come true.
However, flashes of a life she never lived haunt her—leading her to discover a past that has been purposely erased from her memory in order to protect her from horrible truths.
The look on her fiancés face as she retells everything she remembers will forever be etched in her mind. Instead of catching and comforting her, he lets her go.
Retreating to the family’s cottage on the Outer Banks for the summer, Katie’s heart begins to heal. She succumbs to the allure of a dangerously handsome local, Aidan Romero. But as soon as Katie begins to let go and move on with Aidan . . . Branson finds her.
Now Katie is torn between two lives—facing her painful past with Branson, or moving on with Aidan and keeping the secrets safely buried forever.
