Amy's FIVE STAR review of The Hurricane by RJ Prescott

Synopsis

Emily McCarthy is living in fear of a dark and dangerous past. A gifted mathematician, she is little more than a hollow, broken shell, trying desperately to make ends meet long enough to finish her degree.

Through an unlikely friendship with the aging, cantankerous owner of an old boxing gym, Em is thrown into the path of the most dangerous man that she has ever met.

Cormac "the Hurricane" O'Connell is cut, tattooed and dangerous. He is a lethal weapon with no safety and everyone is waiting for the misfire. He's never been knocked out before, but when he meet Em he falls, HARD. Unlike any other girl he's ever met, she doesn't want anything from him. Just being around her makes him want to be a better person.

They are polar opposites who were never meant to find each other, but some things are just worth the fight.

The Hurricane RJ Prescott 5 stars
Want a riveting and fantastic story; a gritty hard knocks tale wrapped around two very serious topics? This one is for you and I can tell you 100 percent it was definitely for me. What a great way to remind us that family is who you make it. Emily McCarthy's life is engulfed in fear. She lays low, doesn’t socialize and keeps to herself not engaging in conversation with anyone. Emily escaped the hands of her monstrously abusive stepfather. The depiction of the violence in her life had me gasping at each word across the pages. Emily has managed to change her name with some help, but a little bit of distance between her step father and mother but she knows one day Frank will find her. This had me AFRAID to turn every single page. I was just waiting and holding my breath saying please not now .. over and over again. It was amazing how the author had me feeling so much for our strong female lead. She struggles to survive but words hard at Daisy’s Diner and avoids all eye contact. The only person she remotely has spoken to is Danny. Cormac O'Connell knew the minute he laid eyes on this beautiful ray of sunshine that he was going to make her his. His demons run deep at the hands of his mother but this girl is his light; the way out of the dark; his calm. He hasn’t taken his fighting as serious as he should until her. He will win her over, he will show her she can be proud of him and he will protect her forever from whatever it is she is hiding behind those dark eyes. Emily just doesn’t know this yet .. but she will. This is one heck of a story. Wow …. It’s a fantastic length, its not rushed and its brilliant. There are numerous characters you are introduced to immediately who will also hold your heart just as “Con” does. I hope that we see books about these boys as well. I think that we will. However next out is “The Aftermath.” It’s a continuation of Con and Emily’s story. I cannot wait. RJ Prescott this is a breakout read … Thank you!
