Knights Rebels.
Three things Jesse Carter has found. Reborn into a brotherhood not so different from the one he left behind, Jesse finds it all too easy to block out his past and claim the role as the Rebels' fun loving player.
Until he meets Bell.
Shy, awkward, and with troubles of her own, Bell Johnson's no stranger to hiding her pain. When Jesse forces himself into her life, she’s at risk of her defences crumbling.
Does Bell have the strength to survive Jesse and his demons or is she fated to become another casualty in the self-destruction of Jesse Carter?
My review->
In this book we are taken on an emotional rollercoaster of a ride with Bell and Jesse. Complete opposites. Thrown together when Bell "hires" him to help look for her sister. Bell is shy, inexperienced, awkward, and so innocent. She's the nurse he met in previous books. Jesse is a real piece of work. He's damaged. Living in guilt and pain. Ex Firefighter - Marine turned Biker. He's rough! He's alpha! The two of them together are like fire and ice.
The banter between them was entertaining. He pokes at her knowing it gets her red in the face and embarrassed. His humor was a way of hiding the hurt and pain he deals with I think.
They work off each other. She keeps him calm and he helps her live on the edge. Belle didn't really know what she was being thrown into when she chose to take a walk on the wild side with Jesse! It wasn't always easy. Jesse became a real Sh*t Head to her. He struggles with things from his past (no excuse) and doesn't feel worthy of love! And when real feelings start to evolve and he realizes this.... the only way he knows how to avoid them .... be an A*shole!
Belle being so naive to so many things. Made me love her and hate her at the same time. Still living at home and following her parents rules..... Sneaking around like a teenager..... taking what Jesse dished until it became too much. When she walks away.... I wanted to applaud and yet I was sad.
And realizing he was just like the rest of the brothers - P*ssy Whipped - he had to do what needed to be done to win her back. Seeing Jesse so broken was hard. Realizing that PTSD is a serious thing in real life and River writing about it gave her major kuddos from me!
The sex.... H O T!
My only complaint would be that towards the end I felt it was rushed and maybe could have given us a little more detail around Belle's sister Paige. I mean the reason they were together was because she wanted help finding Paige.
River does a wonderful job giving us stories about her alphas and their women. Not all of them are hearts and flowers all the time . She gives us real life scenarios written in the world of fiction. Great job River! Keep them coming!
