Left to grow up with a cancer riddled mother, things have never been easy for a teenager who had to be wise beyond her years. Then one day they lose the battle and she’s all alone.
Now twenty-two, Ren reluctantly goes to find her estranged father. He owns the down and out boxing studio, Beat, and Ren finds herself drawn to the ring. She thrives on learning a new way of fighting a life that kept kicking her down…instead of struggling against the current, she kicks it right between the legs.

But he's got other ideas…
…and so does she.

5 stars … can I give more than 5 – I need more than 5.
Renee “Ren” Miller aka Bad Ass confident woman with an attitude is an angry survivor. Ren is not your typical twenty two year old. Abandoned at age five by her father, Ren was left to care for her mother who was ill. For a bit, things got better as her mother was in remission but when the cancer came back it broke her and Ren watched her mother die. In her passing, her mother’s last words to Ren were to go find her father. Tracking her Dad down at a gym named Beat, she doesn’t really know what to expect. “Coach” is standing by the ring working with two monstrous men whom she learns are Lincoln and Dean; twins. Her father barely acknowledges her and gives her nothing more than a storage closet to stay in as he owns Beat. Her half sister, Monica is a spoiled rotten twit who wants nothing to do with her as she accidentally finds out about her father’s little secret that he has thrown into the storage closet. Not knowing what to do, feeling lost, Ren begins to train. She wants to fight. Fighting works through the hostility; the fury from knowing her father left her and her mother for his new family; the perfect family. The gym, for the most part, is her safe haven until Ash Fuller stalks in on her midnight training session and shakes things up.
Ash is a animal, both in size and attitude. His story is unclear for a reason but he has been gone for four years. Amity is brilliant in leaving us in the dark while giving us a trail of crumbs to follow as you frantically turn the pages to find out what in the hell is going on. Ash was at the top of his game for MMA fighting until he disappeared all those years ago; disqualified. Dean and Lincoln are less than thrilled the “golden boy” is back. Monica on the other hand is delighted to say the least …. Whore! Ash begins to frequent Ren’s midnight training sessions teaching her a few things to help her progress in her fighting. After push and pull involving Ren’s newly made friends Seth and Josie, Ren is determined to find out what in the hell Ash’s problem is. Backing him into a corner Ren finds out that Ash fights in an Underground Circuit. At his dismay she wants in. Ash against his better judgment knowing not only is HE bad for Ren but the club is worse, takes her …. Let the hurricane being friends ….. Oh my lord … You talk about a brilliant series you have another one right here from Amity Cross. And guess what .. its NOT OVER!
Throughout the pages of Beat and Pulse the interlacing of Ren’s relationship with her stuck up evil ass half sister unravels, a character named Violet will be revealed, a piece of shit named Hammer will brutalize the pages, a interesting very secondary character named Hamish along with several other very secondary underground fighters will peak your curiosity while adding some additional flare to the underground scene.
I devoured these two books. When they showed up on my kindle I immediately messaged my girl Tracy and squealed to the rooftops. It was pretty much the same reaction when I found the Royal Blood series on my kindle as well, weeks ago. Amity can write a story that will blow you off your damn chair with a force so hard you will feel like you have been ravished for days. Every single thing she puts out there is 100 percent perfect excellence. No spoilers so Im done but you got to run and snatch these up. All of them. Grab up the Royal Blood series too. Go .. NOW!
Girl is out to kill me though and I don’t want to be alone in this friends. You all need to fan girl with me. Amity’s list of coming soon includes:
