Amy's review of Crossing the Line (Men Of Ice Book 2) by Michele Shriver

Synopsis

The bestselling Men of the Ice series, featuring the players of the San Antonio Generals hockey team, continues with Crossing the Line.

Nikolai Brantov left his homeland of Russia at the age of nineteen to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL. As the first-ever draft pick of the San Antonio Generals, Nik wants to justify the team’s faith in him Adapting to a new country and culture and learning a new language take up most of his off-ice time, and he doesn’t needed any added complications, especially from the team owner’s beautiful daughter.

Hailing from one of the wealthiest families in Texas, Meryl Johnson should have everything she wants. But money doesn’t buy happiness or her father’s affection. Even though she’s been warned that the player’s on the team are off limits, a new community project puts Meryl in regular contact with the budding Russian superstar, and that’s exactly the way she likes it.

When sparks fly between Nik and Meryl, her father sets out to remind them who is in charge—of both the hockey team and his family. Can the young couple triumph over his manipulations, or will falling in love spell the end of Nik’s time in San Antonio?

3 stars

This is the second book in the Men of Ice series. Having not read the first this is hard for me to review and to be honest this is not my normal genre. But as always if this is yours then click it up.

Meryl is the San Antonio Generals and she plans on creating herself a promotional correspondent project to brush shoulders with Nikolai as much as she can. Using the project is the perfect way to get closer to Nikolai as her father has a no dating players rule after Meryl’s past. Nikolai is a kind and caring man. Her father wont keep her away from being with him if she has the last word. Having fun with each other the relationship as you can imagine cross into something more than just friends.

Nikolai is a star in his prime rising to the top. Meryl is not the spoiled rich girl he thought she was. Her community involvement is astounding and how she wants to help charities in need is not lost on him. She uses her family’s name to help instead of getting something for her. Nikolai finds himself drawn to the woman he isn’t supposed to be spending time with.

This is a sweet love story. Like I said it's not my normal cup of tea but it doesn't mean that you shouldn't click it up. Its hard to write a review on something you aren't particularly bound with or into but if you are wanting a no nonsense girl meets boy with a meddling father than this is the one for you! Definitely hit it up if you are a hockey fan as well.

I was gifted an ARC for an honest review.
