Gabby has a secret.
A secret that might get her kicked out of the only true home she’s ever known.
When her powers malfunction and bring her into direct conflict with Mason — a widowed LexTal warrior who makes her heart pound and her legs weak — she scrambles to hold onto her carefully constructed world.
Mason’s wounded past keeps him from getting close to anyone but he can’t resist Gabby. There’s an essence about her his soul can’t ignore no matter how much his mind protests.
Her secret threatens to tear Gabby and Mason apart before they’ve even begun to explore the draw between them. But with the unprecedented hold she has on Mason’s heart and magic, how can he bear to let her go?
"Um…"
She froze. Without realizing it, her hands had returned to removing the Post-Its and her fingers were just an inch above his…
A curse flew from her lips.
Mason reached down and removed the small blue square that was perched just above his groin.
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?"
Gabby
What’s your favorite color of Post-Its?
G: *blushes* Blue. It brings back memories of the first time Mason and I met and I accidentally used my magic to cover him in Post-Its.
You lost both of your parents at a young age, but found a surrogate mother in Mason’s mom. Has that filled a void inside you?
G: Definitely. I felt empty for a long time. To be accepted by Mason and then his mother and brothers was the most wonderful feeling in the world.
What do you and Mason fight about?
G: *grins* The tv remote. Seriously. He doesn’t like to give up control and I’m not willing to watch sports twenty-four hours a day. Although, he usually just kisses me until I get distracted then steals it back.
Being bonded means that you can hear each other’s thoughts. Has Mason ever thought something that’s gotten him in trouble?
G: Oh my God, yes! Just last night, I caught the trail of one of his thoughts and you know what it was? That So You Think You Can Dance is stupid. Total sacrilege. But seriously, we all have unkind thoughts and I would never be angry with him for those deep down, inner ones he never expected me to hear.

Gabby almost left the Colony rather than reveal her secret. Would you have gone after her?
M: I’ve been an idiot many times over in the course of my life, but I can’t imagine that I would have been stupid enough to let her leave the safety of the Colony — even if we hadn’t ended up bonding. I can’t manage spending a day apart from her, let alone a lifetime.
Which of your brothers is the most insufferable?
M: I don’t even have to think about it. Morgan. He’s got a snarky comment for every situation and they’re usually at my expense.
Have you still been teaching Gabby her magic?
M: *smiles and good Lord is it gorgeous* I have. It’s my favorite part of each day, teaching her how to use her powers, opening her mind to the magic. She’s so thrilled by the little things — learning to light a fire, to control a sphere of water — that I find myself more excited about using my magic. Her innocence and zeal for life are intoxicating. And though she plans on going back to group classes with Francis in a couple of days, I hope we’ll continue our daily lessons.
Speaking of lessons, have you been back to the waterfalls?
M: We haven’t been back, but we’ve learned that you can make waterfalls in a whole lot of different places. *winks*
