Review -
Sam Monroe has a black past. He never allows himself to feel. The day he quit was the best day of his life. No one gets hurt, no one expects anything. He makes his intentions clear. Sam is his own in all of his aspects of life. He owns his business as he worked his way to gain it watching his Grandfather do the same when he was finally set free. He lives his life the way he wants; how he wants.
Courtney Gallagher is a single mother trying to raise her young son Ben, with no help from his biological father. We don’t meet Matt in her memories until later in the story. She works long hours and less than stellar jobs to provide for them. Courtney will do whatever it takes to provide for her five year old son. She depends on no one but herself.
Courtney rents the apartment next door to Sam. After his grandparents passed he let the other side of the house stay empty but eventually placed the ad for a tenant. He doesn’t pay any mind to his new tenant as that’s just what she is .. his tenant until he recognizes her working one evening. In order to save Courtney’s feelings he avoids her contact and heads home. Complications begin and their worlds start to spin a little faster and collide. None of this is anything Sam wanted. He cant be more than he is and Courtney wont accept any less as Sam is nobodies hero.
No cliffhanger and a great story about finding love and learning to trust again after having your heart destroyed. A fast and quick read. This is a good one to take with you to the beach or the pool. NICE JOB Anna Brooks!
