Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Be My December (The Crawford Brothers Book 1) By Rachel Brookes

This is a standalone novel.

Warning:

This book contains content that may be offensive to some readers.
Including sexual assault (flashbacks), adult situations, and graphic language.

I knew the exact moment I had become a ‘yes’ girl.
December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.

I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.

A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?

It all comes down to this.
One question.
One month.

Be My December?

Wow …. The Crawford Brothers … Ky and Eden … these two characters both took my breath away. Please though if you have a trigger with abuse and rape, please do not click. However this is a very short excerpt at the beginning of the book and not vividly described. Please take these notes into consideration on both accounts.

Eden has survived but her heart hasn’t. Four years later she is still trying to pick up the pieces of her life after Jeremy. Fleeing in order to try and make herself whole again she now finds herself faced with moving back to NY. Eden has the job offer of a lifetime but taking that job means facing her past head on. A chance encounter her first night back with a man who claims to know her turns her world upside down. Eden feels safe with this man; a feeling she hasn’t felt in forever. When she finds out who this man is …. Look out.

Ky is buried in guilt. He cant tell Eden how he knows her. He has a secret that has haunted him for four years. Ky knows he should have done things differently. His life and hers would have been better for it. If he can make up for his past maybe he can forgive himself and help her not be the yes girl. Knowing Eden is afraid to say no is tearing his heart apart. Eden is only in town for a month and he knows he has to help her heal in that time … he has to help her and himself .. things are going well until the past comes back full force.

As the month progresses Ky and Eden fall deeper and deeper for each other without any assurance that more is even an option. While both are starting to mend past hurts, their past comes back to haunt them. When all is said and done, Eden and Ky are left to wonder if they could have more than just December.

I loved this book. However the themes are very serious and at times touch some very deep emotions. There are also the much needed brighter moments that will life you from that dark place.

The secondary characters written into the story line are just as great. With these being book number one we can assume there will be more and … yup. If you keep reading, which I always do … Josh Crawford is next! Be My Temptation is book two next to be released in the series. I cant wait!

Thank you Rachel for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
PS: There is no cliffhanger so when you think your heart cant take anymore .. keep reading!
