Amy's 5 star ARC Review of Ten (My Brother's Best Friend #1) By Ker Dukey

18 ONLY. This title is part of a new series (The Men By Numbers Series) BUT can be read as a standalone.

Ten years old I fell in love.
Ten years was the price of that love.
Ten years later our world’s re-collide.

My brother, Jonah, was possessive when it came to the things he owned. This unfortunately included the people in his life. The forbidden love between his best friend and me was just that… forbidden. Our families were from different walks of life, and as a sheriff’s daughter, being with a Moore’s kid would never be tolerated. To my parents, their son and Dalton Moore were on different paths, and their friendship would end as soon as college began, but it was my brother who had a craving for trouble. He was always looking for danger, committing petty crimes and getting away with it because Dalton would take the fall, blackening his already stained name. When Jonah found out we broke the rules by loving each other, his actions impacted us all causing immeasurable suffering. Betrayal comes with a debt, and it would be paid by all of us. One with their heart, one with their mind, and one would pay in blood.

This book is absolutely spectacular. In fact, that doesn’t even seem like a big and bold enough word to describe what I just devoured. The cover is magnificent, the characters are written flawlessly and I absolutely cannot wait for the next release which we already know will be “Six” … Lawd help us all.

Alexandria Murphy was ten years old when she feel in love with Dalton Murphy. He was hers and she was his. Her brother Jonah was always possessive of her, protecting her from all the bad things in life. Her mother made sure Jonah knew he was his little sister’s protector. Dalton and Jonah became best friends, Dalton taking the fall continually for Jonah’s poor behavior. Being the sheriff’s children they were expected to behavior and the Murphy’s were bad seeds; people who broke the law, murderers, drug runners. Being around Dalton was forbidden.

Dalton Moore’s life was cut out for him with jagged edges his name was enough. His family had black marks surrounding them. Dalton wanted more. He never wanted a part of the family business. He had other plans and they included Alex. Just when he thought things were perfect a betrayal like no other took ten years from him. Ten years he wasted away, shattered and his heart gnawed from his body. Ten years gave him time to plan his vengeance against the people who took everything away from him.

You have no idea how brilliant this book is unless you read it. The blurb, the reviews they don’t do Ten justice. The secondary characters are just as phenomenal as Dalton and Alex. We definitely need Six’s story but I would also love Leon’s story as well. Six (or Taylor Jake) is such an intriguing man. Harden by a brutal life event he is the man who gave Dalton his nickname in prison and became Dalton’s best friend. Both of the men’s nicknames are directly linked to their incarceration.

Ker has written the book in dual POV which adds to the intensity on the pages. This book is just a superior read. Its intense, it’s a read every second you have kind of book. I love everything Ker puts out but his book has to be her best yet. At the end of the book we are given a small snippet of Six and also a “Coming Soon” by she and another author. Lost proves to be one to put on your TBR as soon as its released as well. I highly suggest reading her other series; The Deception Series, Empathy Series, The Broken Series and The Bad Blood Series.

Thank you, Ker for the ARC. I am honored to read anything that has your name attached to it! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
