Gage is part of The Barringer Brothers series but can be read as a standalone.

5 stars! Gage is the first book of the Barringer Brothers series, and after a little detective work I found that this series is a spin off from the Rain Shadow Series. However this book can be read as a standalone. BUT once you meet Gage and the boys you wont want to read it as a only- stander. Cage starts out a little flat to be honest but quickly regained momentum with its story line and the in depth description of the characters. You actually can see these people in your mind and almost feel as if you are in the same room watching the events unfold. The story leaves you guessing and puts you on the edge of your seat cheering on Cage and Summer. Gage Barringer is a huge mountain man who works in the logging camps. After numerous accidents Gage is realizing he needs to find another line of work. His ranch isn’t enough to make the ends meet as far as the horses go so he sets his sights on buying the Raven’s Nest; a local bar that his neighbor used to own. Gage has lived at the ranch most of his life, going there when he was a young troubled boy, packed off to his grandfather's property where he remains to this day inheriting everything from his grandfather who passed a way a few years ago. He is a Montana man who works hard. All the women he “dates” know he doesn’t do relationships. Summer Donovan, fresh from a break up with her boyfriend of 3 years, after catching him in bed with her best friend, and after being hit on by the man who was going to sponsor their band, decides to just get away and pick up and move to Montana and stay in her grandfather's house and run the bar & restaurant he left to her. Summer decides it is time for a change in her life. Her loyalty to the band got her nothing. Her mother, instead of being disgusted that the record executive encouraged her to show him her appreciation for his deal is mortified that Summer messed things up by walking away. Summer knows exactly where she needs to go … Montana. What happens when Gage sees Summer for the first time, and how he deals with her and she with him, is really awesome, and you will love the way this story plays out. It will be funny to watch a petite, 5'4' ball of energy interacting with a mountain of a man, who up to this point in his life has not bothered to deal with any woman at all, but this feisty little girl from California has got him in a tizzy and not thinking clearly. This is a great read with a lot of humor. You will definitely love Summer, Rita, Maxwell and a few other characters including those Barringer brothers. They are rugged and rough in the most fantastic way. Do yourself a favor and one click the Barringer Brothers books by Tess Oliver. Book Two: Cash – out now Book Three: Seth -- out now
