Amy's 5 star review of Violent Things (Chaos and Ruin Series) by Callie Hart

Releases tomorrow June 30th!

Synopsis
You’re never really out until you’re dead. That’s what the mob bosses, gunrunners and car thieves of Seattle will tell you, anyway.

Zeth Mayfair, ex mafia enforcer, has other ideas. Since falling for Sloane, he’s managed to turn her life upside down. Now, he’s determined to give her a stable, happy and, most importantly, safe life. If that means he has to sleep with one eye open and one hand on a shotgun, then that’s what he’ll do.

Mason Reeves is just looking for a way to take care of his sick sister. Since their mother left, things have been hard, and they’re only getting harder. Prescription meds don’t come cheap, and working as an auto mechanic only pays so well. If he wants to give Millie the life she deserves, he’s going to have to earn it with his fists. And who better to teach him how to fight than the guy who took down the biggest gangster in Seattle?

You can try to get out…

You can try to be good…

You can steer clear of trouble…

But it’s only a matter of time before trouble comes looking for you.

*** Zeth and Sloane are back alongside a cast of new characters in the new Chaos & Ruin series ***

Violent Things is Book 1 in this, the sister series to Blood & Roses.

You can read this book if you haven't already read the Blood & Roses series! Upon delivery of the book, you will find an in-depth synopsis of the previous series, should you wish to jump straight into Violent Things but are yet to meet Zeth Mayfair & Sloane Romera.

Of course, Violent Things will be more enjoyable if you start their journey from the very beginning. If you choose to do so, the reading order for the Blood & Roses series is as follows:

Deviant
Fracture
Burn
Fallen
Twisted
Collateral.

Violent Things (Chaos and Ruin Series) Callie Hart 5 bazillion stars Zeth, Sloane and Michael are all back in a new series Chaos and Ruin. This is considered to be the sister series to Blood and Roses. You don’t initially need to have read the Blood and Roses series but I highly recommend that you do simply because it’s a series that you wont soon forget. Callie has intertwined characters from her book Hell’s Kitchen she co-wrote with Lili St. Germain. I have a feeling these books are going to eventually all end up bound together by common enemies and events – and I cant freaking wait. Just think all the bad boys roaming Seattle together .. uh heck yes! Although there is no mention of Lexi Romera (Sophie) and Rebel; a girl can hope they eventually will show up! Another thrill was the introduction of a few new characters. Mason Reeves has a agonizing story line. He is alone; doing all he can so that he can take care of his little sister Millie. Millie is only six years old; has severe seizures and Mason is all she has. Stumbling upon Zeth and Michael fighting after hours in the gym; Zeth decides to allow him to train in the gym with him. As we know Zeth is very good at reading a person and although it remains unsaid I believe that Zeth sees some of himself in Mason. Another key character is introduced when she walks into the Mac’s while Mason is working. Kaya Rayne is a free spirit, sassy and says whats on her mind. She doesn’t believe in wasting time dodging and mincing words. Not only does she remind Mason of a china doll but he also immediately feels the need to protect her. Kaya knows about La Masion Markets where the underground fights take place. Her brother is the legendary Jameson Rayne. Mason; unknown to Zeth plans to make a new life for he and Millie by winning some fights in the underground ring. In all of this there is definitely an unclear link that will bind all of these characters together. Only time will tell. Violent Things was a fantastic tease for fans of these characters. Roberto Barbieri is prepared to rise up against Zeth if he does not conform to doing what he wants giving him an ultimatum all while Detective Lowell is also back in town with some pretty interesting news of her own. If you read Hell’s Kitchen you already witnessed those phone calls to Zeth in that series so as I stated things are starting to overlap. There is a cliffhanger of course because Callie loves to make us squirm and beg with black bag tricks of her own. We also are gifted a blurb on the last few pages from Michael’s story; Badlands. I have stated this over and over when reading Ms. Hart’s brilliant and devious stories. There are authors you will never forget, authors who move you to emotional breaks and bounds that you didn’t know existed creating characters that will forever live in your heart. Callie Hart IS one of those few and far between authors. We are fortunate she has continued to allow us to peek into her beautiful psyche by sharing the stories ensnared in her mind.
