Amy's Review of You Loved Me At My Weakest - Evie Harper

Synopsis

A woman forever scarred…

Emily was a captive in The Collection for five long years, enduring torment and anguish the likes of which no soul should have to bear. Now rescued, she’s struggling to put the past behind her, to assimilate in a world where most will never know the evil often lingering beneath the superficial façade. Worse, she burns to avenge herself against the man who subjugated her again and again during her confinement—a man bent on getting her back.

A man forever devoted…

Kayne has wanted Emily for what seems a lifetime. Before they were ripped apart, theirs was an epic love, one Kayne knows is worth saving, rebuilding. Alongside her brother, Kayne searched for Emmy for years, and no amount of insistence on her part will push him away now that he’s found her. Tender patience will help her heal—if her vendetta doesn’t get her killed first.

Satisfaction reaped from revenge is fleeting, but personal demons linger. Will Emily fight them? Or allow her flaws to overshadow her strengths, denying herself that which Kayne desperately wants to give?

You Loved Me At My Weakest - Evie Harper 4.0 stars In the first book in this series, You Loved Me At My Darkest, we learned of Emmy's rescue from the human sex trafficking ring and is reunited with her only love, Kanye. This is book two in the You Loved Me series. My advice, although this is not considered a cliffhanger or absolute need to read, I would recommend picking up … “You Loved Me At My Darkest” book one in this series in order to get the whole picture and background of what these characters endured. The author did a fantastic job in providing flashbacks and a back story so again you don’t need to read it but leaving the book off of your reading list doesn’t make sense if you are going to continue on with the next few books Ms. Harper intends to include in this series. Jake and Lily (from the first book) are also in this story along with some other characters. The story is a little rough in terms of dealing with the emotional scars of both characters, Kanye and Emmy. It is definitely a story of survival. We are led through their journey and see the horrors and poignant scarring that has been left on Emily. How will she adjust to life after 5 years of captivity. She is broken now. She believes she is dirty and tainted, unworthy of her family's love and will bring only pain in her loved ones lives; especially Kayne. She doesn’t understand why he would continue to love her much less want her body and soul. Kayne lost Emmy too many years ago. Kayne refuses to allow Emmy to live in the darkness alone. He won’t let her walk away from him again but he has to make her believe she is worthy. Marco had done this to her. She was a piece in his collection selling her off to the highest bidder. Years of searching and fighting to save Emily along with her brother Jake, Kayne never gave up, he never lost hope that someday she would be by his side again. He will protect Emmy this time when her past comes back to haunt her but how can he fight the demons and men of Marco? One click to find out!
