Amy's Review of Hooked by Ana Laynn

Synopsis

Lance Borel is a man who knows what he wants…

He wants to fight.

Since his mother became ill, fighting and being in the ring is the only thing that gives him peace of mind. The one thing he feels like he can control in life.

Hilary Vaughan is the kind of girl who isn’t sure what she wants…

Because she’s never had to want for anything. Coming from a rich family, all her wants and needs are quickly fulfilled.

Now she’s just looking for fun in the most typical place.

But one night everything changes…

Lance and Hilary meet in a bar, but before things heat up, she blurts out she’s a virgin. Taken by surprise he walks away, but he can’t seem to get her off his mind.

A few weeks pass when they meet again, and for the first time in his life he believes he’s finally found something else worth fighting for.

Her.

Only now she's with Travis...and he's bad news

Hooked by Ana Laynn 3.5 stars This is the second in this series by Ana Laynn. However you do not have to read the first book to understand what is going on. There is plenty of back story on these group of MMA fighters! However be aware domestic violence and cancer/loss are present in this book. If you have experienced this in your life it may hit home. There are some real emotions in this book that are a little taxing on the reader. Lance is a great MMA fighter and is heading to the top. The title fight is all he has ever wanted. He can have his pick of any woman he wants. Lance isn’t gentle either. It’s the back closet at the bar or a quickie in the truck. There is no time for a clinging woman. Lance gets his world rocked unexpectedly by a familiar and beautiful, shy girl who catches his attention. He knows he has to have her. Although feels as though he has met her before, he isn't sure where. When Lance finds out she is a virgin, after taking her to the back closet at the bar he pushes her away and leaves unknowing changing her life forever. Hilary wants Lance just about as much as he wants her, but when he pushes her away she is mortified. Never has she felt so used and ugly. She wants nothing more to do with him. When Lance tries to apologize, she then has her turn and pushes him away. However, he slowly breaks down her walls and she can't help but give him another chance but her only one problem, is her controlling and extremely abusive boyfriend. Hilary and Lance still strive to be together but at what costs and how many people will get hurt trying to help her escape him. Lance is a knight riding in on a horse to steal the girl away to say the least. There is so much drama in this book. For me it was a little too much. BUT it was romantic and tense. I suggest a one click and give this book a shot. I did enjoy all the characters and their sense of humor. Again
